Full job description
HOURS ARE M-F 8:30AM - 5PM
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Loading and unloading box trucks, following all written procedures, including sampling, labeling, and transferring materials to/from storage locations as appropriate
· Operating material handing machinery, including hi-los, drum pickers, squeezers, pallet jacks, yard switching trucks, and all others safely and efficiently
· Picking and staging materials for future shipments, including preparation work to prepare containers for shipment
· Unloading drum line and finishing packaging tasks, such as palletizing, banding, shrink wrapping, etc. as required
· Conducting tote inspection, staging, cleaning, and testing tasks as may be required
· Scheduling and preparing paperwork for box truck and bulk truck shipments
· Focus on continuous improvement, and communicate improvement ideas on a frequent basis to logistics manager
· Work smoothly with personnel from other departments, including laboratory, production, health and safety, management, and all other employees of Gage.
· Utilize free time for 5S and lean manufacturing improvements.
· Support Kanban replenishment system by understanding and following procedures
· Remain vigilant at all times and report any suspicious findings to area supervisors
· Maintain a positive and optimistic attitude; respond quickly to all information requests
QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, knowledge, experience):
· Ability to interact with a computer on a frequent basis (will be taught ProcessPro if hired)
· Basic math skills (high school level)… unit conversion skills a big plus
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Well organized, detail oriented, problem solver, and good communication skills
· Chemical and hazardous material handling skills helpful
· Required to be able to obtain hi-lo permit and operate all required material handling equipment. CDL license helpful but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Climb ladders
· Able to lift up to 50 pounds
· Able to work in the outdoors for extended periods of time
· Able to wear an air purifying respirator and other safety equipment
· Able to drive powered industrial vehicles such as fork lifts
· Able to sit for extended periods of time
· Clear speaking voice
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.51 per hour
