We are expanding and looking for a full-time Mechanical Designer to join our Team. We pride ourselves on maintaining long-term relationships with our customers and are always looking for new ways to serve them better. MESA is a growing, fast paced employee-owned professional services and software provider for clients in the product design and manufacturing industries. MESA provides training, technical support, installation, implementation, consulting, and other services in support of engineering design products such as Autodesk® AutoCAD® and Inventor® software.

This person must have a high sense of urgency to give clients a positive experience.
The Designer position is responsible for the creation of 3D Inventor models and drawings and/or 2D AutoCAD or AutoCAD Mechanical drawings. In this position, the Designer works directly with MESA customers who are behind or don’t have the capabilities in house to complete the task. Our customers support a wider variety of industries to include Oil and Gas, Nuclear, Consumer Products, Steel and others. Most projects include, but are not limited to, some combination of Piping and Structural Steel components.
MAJOR Functions / Responsiblities
- Accurately and efficiently, create and modify parts, assemblies and drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD software.
- Interact with internal team to deliver high quality models on time, within budget.
- Question and resolve any discrepancies in design with internal team or customer.
- Make all necessary decisions to capture the design and translate that into a model to be used to generate a complete set of shop drawings so the product can be manufactured.
- Work as or with Project Lead to identify trouble areas and resolve them before they become an issue.
- Collaborate with Designers and Engineers to deliver a project.
Job Requirements
- Interpret Schematic, P&ID and concept sketches, and models into accurate 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
- Ability to apply the industry specific drafting codes and the standard with the specifications of the designs that have been assigned for them
- Software skills – AutoCAD, AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor, Vault Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Microsoft Outlook and ERP and CRM systems
- Ability to maintain accuracy while meeting tight timelines
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Mechanical Aptitude is a must
- Listen, take notes, and pay attention to detail
- Ability to multitask where as it is possible to have several projects going at once.
- Capacity to be part of Technical Support as needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a Team
- Capable of understanding workload and prioritizing to get the work done on time.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Engineering or Computer Aided Drafting.
- Min. 3 Years of experience in mechanical design required.
- Inventor Certified Professional and/or AutoCAD Certified Professional highly recommended.
Schedule: Monday to Friday. Onsite at customer or remote. At customer 80% of time.
Salary: Commensurate to Candidate's Education and Experience
