The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is a next-generation sawmill operator focused on sustainable manufacturing of dimensional wood products. Position Summary:
The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the sawmill development process, including research and development (R&D) activities.
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing new technologies, equipment, mechanical and other components, as well as production processes for deployment at TLM’s sawmills. Specifically, as a TLM Mechanical Engineer, you will support the development of complex hardware from cradle to grave. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and implement complex sawmilling machinery, equipment, and subsystems to enable safe, quality and fast production of lumber products.

Responsibilities:
- Own hardware from conceptual design through production and in-mill operation
- Drive design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization
- Rapidly iterate on designs leveraging analysis to inform systems trades to improve system quality and functionality
- Work collaboratively with TLM’s operations and supply chain teams to establish a product lifecycle with emphasis on cost, complexity, and quality
- Support the design and realization of efficient in-house production lines for TLM’s sawmills
- Perform functional, environmental, and performance testing on hardware to validate analysis and demonstrate compliance to design criteria
- Demonstrate extreme ownership of product outcomes at every stage of system design, development, test and implementation
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 2+ years' experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
- 2+ years of hands-on project experience with complex mechanical systems.
- Experience with process modeling and simulation is highly desirable.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work on a team under pressure under deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
