MedNorthwest is a primary care internal medicine practice located on First Hill in Seattle next to Swedish Medical Center and Virginia Mason. We operate on the concierge model and provide an outstanding level of care and service to our patients. We're looking for two medical assistants to add to our team of five MAs, three physicians, and two nurse practitioners.

Our ideal candidate is highly motivated, a great written and oral communicator, and very adept at learning new skills and information. If you are a working medical assistant who wants to push yourself to the highest level of skill and ability, or an individual with an interest in healthcare who would like to become an MA with on the job training at full salary instead of going to MA school, a career at MedNorthwest could be the right fit for you. In the past, we have successfully hired registered or certified MAs as well as people with solid administrative backgrounds who want to train as an MA in our office.

You'll perform a wide range of duties, both front and back office, including medical transcription, blood drawing, giving vaccines, taking vital signs, scheduling patients, ordering tests, and interacting with patients in a caring one-on-one manner. If you don't have any certification in medical assisting, you can become a registered medical assistant here, and there is a path to becoming a certified medical assistant in Washington State after one year of employment through our apprenticeship program where you are paid your full salary and we cover 100% of the costs of the program.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Willing to undergo in depth training to become a registered medical assistant in Washington State, if needed.
  • Extremely neat, clean, healthy, professional appearance.
  • Highly accurate and very good attention to detail. Quick learner. Someone with excellent focus and concentration, not prone to errors or mistakes. Able to work in a complicated medical environment.
  • Outstanding customer service and relationship building skills. We have a clientele that requires the highest standards in service and attention.
  • Excellent typist, good administrative ability.
  • Very reliable and punctual. Strong work ethic. Team oriented.
  • Near perfect attendance. Minimal issues with absenteeism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interested in stable, long-term employment and demonstrates stable job history.
  • Computer literate. Microsoft office.
  • Adaptable, flexible, good at mastering new skills. Good multi-tasker.
  • A 100% team player who consistently goes above and beyond the minimum, who works hard and gets along extremely well with co-workers.

The job duties include both front and back office:

  • Working at the front desk area, handling phones, greeting patients.
  • Transcribing dictated chart notes and letters.
  • After training, performing blood drawing, injections, vital signs, EKGs, assisting with procedures.
  • Ordering supplies, maintaining office equipment and appearance.
  • Handling forms and other requests from insurance companies.
  • Building relationships with patients, serving as their advocate.
  • Providing fantastic support to the rest of the staff.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Serving as executive assistant for special projects.
  • This is a M-F 8:30 - 5:00 PM in-office position. No remote work.

Benefits include health insurance, 3 weeks of PTO, fully paid parking or a transportation allowance. Salary review and possible increase after 1 year. Also, 401(k) with employer contribution after 1 year.

Starting salary is $30/ hour for applicants without certification, but we do pay up to $35/hour for certified medical assistants with 5 or more years of experience who have some tenure here and can do the full scope of the job, and so there is room to grow in the position.
