Full job description
Title: Membership and Unit Growth Executive
Exempt/Salary + full BSA benefits
Scope/Position Description:
The position is responsible for significantly increasing participation/membership in traditional Scouting and increasing the number of Scouting units in an assigned geographical area.
- Work collaboratively with other council staff to Identify targeted underserved communities.
- Work with other council staff to identify potential Charter partners in those communities.
- Work with Commissioner staff to identify and recruit additional new-unit commissioners as needed to support unit growth.
- Work with Membership Committee to identify and recruit New-unit organizers to support new-unit growth.
- Establish relationships with major charter partners in assigned communities.
- Establish relationships with school and school district leadership and other youth serving organizations for the purpose of expanding Scouting.
- Work with unit leadership, Commissioners and program committee volunteers in assigned communities to establish annual program and budget plans for every unit to ensure high youth membership retention rate above 65% annually and unit retention rate above 90%.
- Work with Training committee to ensure delivery of unit level training as needed to increase volunteer capacity and volunteer retention rate.
- Work with unit leadership to ensure participation in Council sponsored product sales and Friends of Scouting (fundraising) campaigns .
- Work with Program Committee to ensure adequate and quality district level programming to ensure successful onboarding and membership retention.
Position requirements:
- 4-year degree from an accredited college or university
- or Experience with 5+ years in Outside sales
- US Citizen or permit to work in U.S.
- Valid US driver’s License
- Ability to work Nights and weekends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent calendar management and planning skills
- Criminal background check
- Background knowledge of Scouting programs preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 per year
