Event Planning and Membership Coordinator for Uncover Squirrel Hill
Uncover Squirrel Hill, a vibrant community merchant organization, is seeking an experienced contractor (individual or organization) to help coordinate events and membership initiatives. This role will support the promotion of our community through planning events, strengthening relationships with local businesses, and enhancing our membership engagement. The position is estimated at approximately 20 hours per week.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and organized individual or organization to provide event planning and membership coordination services. This role will support the planning and execution of community events, manage merchant relationships, and coordinate communications for Uncover Squirrel Hill.
Responsibilities:
- Event Planning & Management:
- Organize and execute community events such as Night Markets, Wine Walks, and National Shop Small day.
- Manage logistics, vendor coordination, and community outreach for events.
- Collaborate with local merchants to ensure successful event participation.
- Membership Coordination:
- Serve as the main point of contact for local merchants and members.
- Facilitate membership acquisition through email campaigns, direct mail, and advertising initiatives.
- Coordinate face-to-face meetings with business owners to promote membership benefits.
- Manage membership records, update website listings, and ensure members are featured in newsletters and social media.
- Marketing & Communications:
- Develop and execute a digital marketing strategy to increase online engagement (social media, newsletters, website).
- Create and schedule social media content (1-2 posts per week) highlighting businesses and community events.
- Write and distribute monthly newsletters.
- Maintain and update the Uncover Squirrel Hill website with event information and business highlights.
- Coordinate media outreach and write press releases for events.
- Administrative Support:
- Organize monthly merchant and executive committee meetings (virtual or in-person), including setting agendas and taking minutes.
- Manage action items and ensure follow-ups from meetings.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in event planning and membership coordination, preferably within a community or nonprofit organization.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in digital marketing and social media management (Instagram, Facebook, website updates).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently and engaging with local business owners.
- Familiarity with the Squirrel Hill community is a plus.
Compensation:
This role is structured for approximately 20 hours per week, with compensation based on experience.
