Job Title: Mortgage Loan Originator/Lender
Great Opportunity! First Exchange Bank, a North Central Community bank seeks Mortgage Loan Originator/Lender working out of our Fairmont and White Hall offices. The right individual will be an integral member of our lending team and be a positive representative of the organization. Full benefits include health, dental, life insurance, paid vacation and 401k. Salary will be based on experience. Qualifications will include bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience and knowledge. -
Job Function: Development of new bank customers and retention of existing bank customers. Solicitation of loan and deposit services primarily through the retail lending function. Recommend approval/denial of customer applications for retail and mortgage loans. Ensure all customers receive prompt and courteous service and that products/services offered meet the needs of the bank's customer base while protecting the bank from excess risk and exposure to losses. Work to maximize customer relationships based on customer need as aligned with the bank’s values. Be a “Sales and Service Champion” and a role model of teamwork within the bank.
Essential duties:
- Maintain the highest ethical and legal standards and practices.
- Promote an environment in which “selling is helping” through thorough product knowledge.
- Assure the selling is helping sells process is utilized by all subordinates. Including asking customers for their business.
- Maintain thorough product knowledge of all retail products. Recommend approved staff training to include product knowledge, sales, referrals, customer service, and policy and procedures.
- Ask customers for referrals while opening new accounts or as opportunities arise. Provide business cards during the referral process.
- Assure follow up calls to customer contacts and prospective customer contacts are made.
- Maintain a portfolio of existing mortgage and retail customers. Perform all lending functions including assisting in collection of past due accounts.
- Open new consumer loan (in house real estate and installment) accounts for customers. Including preparing all application information and compiling all required information, complete underwriting and preparing all essential documentation.
- Develop new business. Conduct outside sales calls. Analyze client base and competitive environment for the market area. Monitor, evaluate, - recommend and provide approved adjustments to programs to ensure achievement of goals.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Acceptable: Equivalent experience and knowledge.
Previous Work Experience and Training:
- Mortgage loan origination. Other retail lending experience a plus.
- Thorough understanding of mortgage lending and compliance
- Excellent understanding of lending processes and business opportunities.
- Solid understanding of branch banking concept.
- Superior computer skills to include a proficiency level with MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Publisher, etc.), e-mail and internet applications and mortgage originator software.
Practical Skills:
- Ability to identify business opportunities and - solicit for business.
- Must be creative, detail-oriented and efficient, with the ability to quickly analyze information.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.
- Must be fluent in the English language (to include reading, writing, speaking and comprehension)
Physical Demands:
The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will regularly sit, talk, hear, use hands, fingers and arms to handle feel and reach - - The employee will occasionally stand, walk, climb, - balance,- stoop or kneel. Special vision requirements include close vision and the ability to focus. The noise level in the environment is usually normal.
