Full job description

The primary role for this position is responsibility for the development of Salvation Army Advisory Organizations (AO) throughout the United States. Oversees and coordinates all strategies, activities, systems, and events pertaining to Advisory Organizations (AO) development.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall support of National Advisory Organizations; including the management of established National Advisory Organizations, developing new National Advisory Organizations (AO); nationwide, and managing the implementation of advisory organization recommendations from the Community Relations and Development Commission and Advisory Organizations Development Committee of the National Advisory Board. This role will also be responsible for executing all activities pertaining to field communications and development of resources and platforms.

Responsible for determining Advisory Organizations goals and strategies and providing project management as it relates to scaling efforts and national initiatives. Advisory organizations include Advisory Boards, Advisory Councils, Women’s Auxiliary, and Echelon Chapters.

Consults with developing and existing Advisory Organizations to provide guidance and resources.

Communicates with Territories to provide Advisory Organizations updates and consultation.

Identifies needed resources for continued Advisory Organizations growth and provides recommendations to NCRDS.

Ensures engagement of Advisory Organizations across various TSA national initiatives, programs, and ministries via collaboration with other NHQ sections and departments.

Creates and implements communications strategy for Advisory Organizations across multiple channels and social media platforms.

Conducts Advisory Organizations trainings and workshops.

Works with Corporate Relations department to identify and cultivate potential corporate partners and external resources for Advisory Organizations support.

Hosts quarterly Advisory Organizations field calls to provide updates on national projects and initiatives.

Collects and analyzes quarterly Advisory Organizations reporting data to track impact.

Responsible for the development, management, and update of the national Advisory Organizations website, a site which includes communications, graphic designs, and multi-media content.

Manages and updates national Advisory Organizations contact lists.

Works closely with Advisory Organizations Development committee to determine meeting agenda and priorities, prepare materials, and oversee travel arrangements and meeting logistics.

Assists the NCRD Secretary with the implementation of Commissioners Conference decisions related to formal Advisory Organizations Development recommendations.

Creates reports and briefs on Advisory Organizations (AO) activities for NAB Advisory Organization Development Committee, CRDC, and other leadership as requested.

Creates supplementary resources for Advisory Organizations in recruiting and marketing.

Creates supplementary resources for helping local Salvation Army leaders support Advisory Organizations chapters.

Develops Advisory Organizations training and development resources.

Manages all changes to the Advisory Organizations Manual and dissemination of these revisions to the territories.

Responsible for ensuring Advisory Organizations Development committee audiences’ considerations are included in national TSA events and conferences.

Manages the Advisory Organizations Development email inbox.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides support in the planning and coordination of national conferences including proposal review, session and production planning, workshop coordination, and other duties as requested.

Assists NCRDS with the development and implementation of departmental strategic goals.

Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

At least a bachelor’s degree in the following fields: business, communications, marketing, or public relations.

or

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Preferred experience in working with nonprofit boards.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Driver’s License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of Office 365, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and theInternet, with the ability to learn and become proficient in other specific computer software as needed.

Excellent knowledge of the English language including proper grammar skills and punctuation.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to organize, prioritize, schedule and complete multiple projects with similar completion date requirements with minimal supervision.

Ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships with Salvation Army Officers, community relations professionals, and young adult professionals across the country.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of community relations.

Working knowledge of how to conduct valid research via the Internet.

Ability to plan project schedules and resolve operational issues.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language fluently.

Ability to work with others as part of a team.

Ability to plan and prioritize work to ensure compliance with established deadlines.

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or responding to inquiries.

Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work takes place in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.

Significant travel is required for this position.
