Ngage NM Vamos Niños Mobile Children’s Museum Coordinator

Ngage New Mexico is seeking applications for a Mobile Children’s Museum Coordinator. Ngage New
Mexico is a nonprofit organization that serves as a backbone organization for a prenatal-to-career education initiative called the Success Partnership, which serves Doña Ana County (DAC) and uses
Collective Impact as its strategy. As the primary support organization, Ngage facilitates community meetings and convenings, provides logistical support, and coordinates strategy for making community-wide change possible. Ngage works with our partners in the DAC Early Childhood Education
(ECE) Coalition to implement an Early Childhood Education plan for the county. We support our network of partners in the K-12, post-secondary education, and career readiness sectors. Additionally, Ngage does capacity-building work, to ensure a strong and vibrant nonprofit community for Doña Ana County.

This position offers the opportunity to become deeply engaged with Doña Ana County’s young children, primarily 3-5 year olds, their families, and caregivers. The Vamos Niños Coordinator will play an instrumental role in coordinating programming for the new mobile Children’s Museum, which is called
Vamos Niños: Play to Learn Mobile Museum and Resource Center. This includes intimate internal coordination with the Museum Development Coordinator to prepare for the launch and operations of
Vamos Niños. The Vamos Niños Coordinator works in concert with the Museum Development
Coordinator and Executive Director to ensure the mission of the project remains intact, and acts as part of the Ngage and Success Partnership team to strategize and execute the mission of the backbone organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in Early Childhood Education, be bilingual, and have a passion for working with young children and their caregivers. The Vamos Niños Coordinator will support a variety of tasks, including the following:

● Coordinate and safely carry out the day-to-day operations of the mobile museum, which includes traveling the county and engaging families with young children in fun, interactive learning opportunities

● Primarily responsible for the upkeep of the mobile museum, and will work with the Executive Director to ensure maintenance of the fifth wheel toy hauler is consistently completed.

  • Foster a positive learning environment for all children, their families, and caregivers
  • Serve alongside the Museum Development Coordinator as a facilitator of the Children’s Museum Committee (CMC)
  • Work in concert with the Museum Development Coordinator to supervise and direct current and future long-term planning and activities
  • Contract and budget management, in concert with Executive Director
  • Collaborate with the Museum Development Coordinator and Success Partnership Communications Team to implement an internal and external communications plan to raise awareness about Vamos Niños
  • Develop and cultivate positive supportive relationships with community stakeholders, and partners to create mutually supporting programs
  • Support the overall mission of Ngage New Mexico and the Success Partnership which includes some program coordination responsibilities beyond the mobile museum project
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Work schedule is Tuesday - Saturday 8am-5pm, some evening hours are required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, insurance, and have transportation
  • Minimum associate’s degree in a related field with 1 to 2 years related experience in Early
  • Childhood Education or Museums OR, relevant combination of education and experience
  • Personally committed to the mission, values, and programs of Ngage and the Success

  • Able to lift 50 pounds, regular set up and tear down of fifth wheel toy hauler including setup of indoor and outdoor activities and exhibits
  • Multicultural, equity-focused orientation; understands and respects the diversity of families’ economic, linguistic, or cultural backgrounds and situations
  • Knowledge of DAC, including community resources, services, referral processes (including the colonias)
  • Knowledge of early childhood education and prenatal development, including transitions from ECE to K-12
  • Strong public speaking skills, ability to serve as an ambassador for Vamos Niños: Play to learn
  • Independent problem-solver who is comfortable asking for guidance and/or taking direction
  • Talent in balancing small program details while maintaining a larger, strategic vision
  • Proficient in computer applications, and able to learn new systems
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Preferred:

  • Familiar with Collective Impact
  • Experience in creating and implementing educational programming for children and their families
  • Ability to learn to drive a truck with an attached fifth wheel toy hauler (training will be provided)

The Coordinator is a full-time position, with benefits, beginning immediately. The salary range for the position is $38,000 - $44,000 a year, commensurate with experience and education.
