Job description

NW2C is seeking two Administrative Assistants to support the Project Director, Program Director, and team. This is a grant-based, full time position, to be hired beginning July 1, 2024. The position will be probationary for 90 days from the date of hire, and continuation in the position will be contingent upon a satisfactory evaluation.

The position will be responsible for supporting administrative and programmatic work. The position requires somebody who is supportive of Native American education, dedication to providing educational and cultural opportunities to Native students, thinks critically, takes direction, works independently, is comfortable with speaking to students, families, community members, and school leaders, can communicate effectively with the team, and is highly organized.

This position will be responsible for the following tasks including: note taking, managing multiple administrative and programming calendars, creation and management of administrative documents, and other tasks as assigned. For student programming, this position will be responsible for the communication of programs and services to families, implementation of student and family engagement, support with outreach to school leaders and counselors, and direct support of program facilitation. Responsibilities will also include event planning, ordering supplies, transporting students and families to program events, supporting team members with tasks, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administrative work.
  • Calendar management.
  • Purchase order creation and submission.
  • Creating and maintaining agendas.
  • Note taking in all meetings.
  • Management and updating of project management sites.
  • Creating and managing sign in sheets for events.
  • Providing surveys to students and families.
  • Student/family outreach.
  • Supporting programming.
  • Transport students and/or families to events for field trips.
  • Organizing/Supporting programming.

Job Requirements-Mandatory

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Professionalism in all aspects of work areas is required at all times.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft software and Google Suite.
  • Collaborative spirit, a willingness and ability to work with a team to reach goals together
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • 1 year minimum experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Located in the LA area and willingness to work in-person and virtually.
  • 1 year minimum experience working in a hybrid work place (remote and on-site)
  • 1 year minimum working with youth in summer or outdoor camp setting.
  • Must be able to drive an organization van or a multiple person vehicle, have a valid driver’s license, and provide a DMV driving record with job application.
  • 1 letter of recommendation, preferably from a previous employer or supervisor.
  • 1 letter of interest.

Preferred

  • Knowledge and understanding of the unique needs and assets of American Indian children and youth.
  • Has previous experience with health, safety, and first aid training in educational settings.
  • Experience working within Native American students, LAUSD, and/or schools in Los Angeles County.
  • Knowledge of Native American education, language, culture in Los Angeles County or other urban areas.

Compensation and benefits:

  • $23.61 per hour, 8 hour shift, full time annual position.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees in this job title are subject to the terms and conditions of an employment contract. Employment contracts are typically subject to review and renewal on an annual basis.
  • Employees in this job must reside in Los Angeles County, the project area, and have the ability to work directly with the project beneficiaries.
  • Work settings will be hybrid, and will include on-site, remote, and student trips to outdoor areas.
  • Fulltime, hourly work, weekends as needed for program delivery, overtime non-exempt.
