  • Patient Workups: Perform patient workups based on the specific type of visit.
  • Testing and Documentation: Perform ocular and visual testing (such as visual acuity, tonometry, etc.) and accurately document findings in the electronic medical record (EMR), including blood pressure readings.
  • Assist During Exams: Prepare patients and assist physicians during exams and procedures, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for each patient.
  • Room Preparation: Ensure exam and procedure rooms are properly set up, including maintaining sterile technique where necessary.
  • Clinic Efficiency: Help maintain a steady patient flow between work-ups, exams, and procedures to maximize physician efficiency.
  • Cleaning and Stocking: Open and close rooms, ensuring that all equipment is clean, supplies are stocked, and clinic areas are maintained throughout the day.
  • Patient Communication: Answer patient inquiries and return phone calls as needed, providing accurate and timely information.
  • General Office Support: Assist with ordering supplies, performing office tasks, and supporting overall practice operations.
  • Confidentiality: Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous medical assistant or ophthalmic experience is a plus, but we are open to training the right candidate with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Personality: We are looking for someone who is compassionate, friendly, and dependable—someone who will treat patients with the utmost care and respect.
  • Attention to Detail: You’ll be handling delicate equipment, performing detailed testing, and documenting information that is critical for patient care, so attention to detail is essential.
  • Team Player: You should be comfortable working as part of a collaborative team, assisting others, and contributing to the smooth running of the practice.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients, physicians, and other team members. Clear communication is key to ensuring a great patient experience.
