About Us

Join a low vision rehabilitation non-profit that is nationally recognized for changing the lives of people with vision loss. We provide a team approach to help patients meet their individual goals. When other doctors say nothing else can be done, we get started.

About the Opportunity

  • $2,500 sign-on bonus
  • Part-time (2-3 days per week)

About the Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive low vision exams
  • Participation in Seeing is Believing children’s program during academic year and perform pediatric low vision exams
  • Educate patients on their diagnosis
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and low vision tools to aide the patient in achieving their goals
  • Work with occupational therapy and access technology specialists
  • Communicate with referring optometrists or ophthalmologists
  • Complete requested reports (Vision Specialist Report, school or work accommodation, etc)
  • An average day, you will see 4-6 patients

About the Requirements

  • Low vision residency training preferred, but we will strongly consider residency training in ocular disease or experience working with low vision. New grads with a strong interest in low vision are also welcome to apply
  • Valid Illinois state license to practice optometry
  • Strong communication skills
  • Interest in the treatment of low vision
  • Some travel (Seeing is Believing Children’s Outreach Program)

Part-time prorated benefits as follows:
