OSS is comprised of six orthopaedic physicians, one pain management physician, four physician assistants and multiple physical and hand therapists. OSS takes care of patients’ musculoskeletal health with diverse, comprehensive, and well-coordinated services. Located in the greater Los Angeles areas of Burbank and Glendale, OSS is affiliated with Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Adventist Health Glendale, and two independent ambulatory surgery centers. Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthopedic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in assisting orthopedic surgeons and healthcare professionals in providing exceptional patient care. This position requires a solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as the ability to work effectively in a hospital or clinical setting, particularly with pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist orthopedic surgeons during procedures by preparing and maintaining sterile environments using aseptic techniques.
  • Apply and remove casts, splints, and other orthopedic devices while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, including proper use of orthopedic devices and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including coding for procedures and treatments administered.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the medical team promptly.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained for optimal functionality.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to orthopedics and anatomy.
  • Experience working in a hospital environment is preferred, especially in pediatrics.
  • Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care.
  • Familiarity with coding practices for medical procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in aseptic techniques and patient care protocols.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of orthopedics.
