Full job description

The Columbus Bike Co-op is seeking a part-time employee to help sustain the growth and success of the organization. Typically open 2-3 times per week; the days and hours vary seasonally, but we are typically open Monday evenings and Sunday afternoons. The employee will be expected to work the majority of their hours during our workshop hours but may be needed on other days and times to work at events off-site or to work from home.

Position will be compensated for a maximum of 10-15 hours per week for $12.00-$14.00/hour (52 weeks)

Process of selection will be based on experience, ability to work effectively, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Performing the Greeter (front desk assistant) role during shop hours. Includes welcoming visitors, teaching about different aspects of shop, making sales, signing up visitors for Earn a Bike Program
  • Working with Shop Manager to make sure the Co-op is a safe and welcoming space for all visitors and guests
  • Organizing and keeping clean the bike sales and Earn A Bike section of the shop
  • Working with Shop Manager to classify and organize donations of bikes and bike gear
  • Being available to customers and Shop Monitors and Manager alike during shop hours
  • Ensuring valet bike parking service are fully staffed with volunteers during all events including Farmers Market, Ethnic Expo, and other spring - fall community events
  • Advertising volunteer and equipment needs to the community
  • Recruiting volunteers for shop work, community events, and bike valet coverage
  • Creating and managing social media content on Facebook and Instagram
  • Managing Facebook group for Co-op volunteers
  • Monitoring and answering email address and phone line
  • Creating and sending e-newsletter to general mailing list and volunteer group
  • Tracking visitor hours via online google sheets
  • Having the ability to work with diverse clientele
  • Submitting a quarterly report for the Board of Directors noting volunteer hours and activities
  • Attend monthly Board meetings and report on what’s going on in the shop

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $12.00 to $14.00 /hour

Experience:

  • Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Volunteer Management: 1 year (Preferred)
