JOB POSTING: Parent Educator (Full-Time, Non-Exempt)

ORGANIZATION: The Healthy Start Coalition of Flagler & Volusia Counties is a non-profit organization striving to unite people and resources at the local level to meet the needs of pregnant women, infants, children, and their families. OVERVIEW: Reporting to Program Supervisor for Healthy Families, the Parent Educator provides Healthy Families home visiting services to assigned families. Services are family-centered, strength-based and directed at establishing a trusting relationship; strengthening parent-child relationship; promoting healthy child growth and development; and enhancing family well-being by reducing risk and building protective factors. Parent Educator partners with families and honors diverse family structures and parenting practices.

  • Ability to establish trusting relationships and accept individual differences.
  • Experience and humility to work with culturally diverse families.
  • Knowledge of infant and child development.
  • Ability to use judgement and discretion in the execution of duties.
  • Ability to set appropriate limits and boundaries with assigned families and providers.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and emergencies effectively.
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of families.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with healthcare providers and community resource partners.
  • Knowledge of local and regional behavioral health and social service providers.
  • Ability to work independently and seek direction from supervisor as needed.
  • Willingness to engage in building reflective capacity, i.e., capacity for introspection, communicating awareness of self in relation to others, recognizing value of supervision, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, and experience in working with or providing services to children and their families required. College coursework and infant mental health endorsement preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and a variety of virtual meeting platforms
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with a safe driving record and current private auto insurance
  • Pre-employment Screening Clearance: Level 2 Background Check, Drug Screening, Local Criminal History Check, and Motor Vehicles Records Check

BENEFIT PACKAGE:
