PART TIME AUDIO/VIDEO TECHNICIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION

WALDENSIAN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

VALDESE, NC

The Waldensian Presbyterian Church of Valdese, NC, Part Time Audio/Video Technician is responsible for ensuring that the audio/video equipment of the church is maintained in good operating order. The Part Time Audio/Visual Technician is responsible for troubleshooting problems and fixing those problems with workarounds as needed to allow for a seamless audio and/or video experience for those in attendance and those watching online. Changes in audio and/or video settings, depending upon type of musicians, instruments and acoustics for the sanctuary and Pioneer Hall will be the responsibility of the technician as well. It is anticipated that this position will require up to 6 hours per week.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

1. Employment as Part Time Audio/Visual Technician at Waldensian Presbyterian Church shall be subject to all terms and conditions as outlined in the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Personnel Manual.

2. This position requires a close working relationship and full cooperation with the Director of Music, co-pastors, the volunteers who will be recording and streaming the various church services, and the Communication Committee and Worship Committee Chairpersons.

3. The Part Time Audio/Video Technician shall have the ability to respond quickly to emergency needs to keep the equipment operating during worship services and special events, plus have audio and video levels set for the various types of music, musical instruments, speakers, or technology used.

4. The Part Time Audio/Visual Technician shall be available each Sunday and/or other evenings of the week, depending upon the church’s schedule, that requires audio and/or video availability at the event. (These events are scheduled in advance.)

5. The Part Time Audio/Video Technician shall be responsible for teaching new volunteers how to operate the audio/video equipment in both the Sanctuary and Pioneer Hall. Any new settings of the audio/video equipment shall also be communicated with those who operate the equipment.

6. This position is expected to be present prior to any service or activity requiring audio and/or video. The position will assist the volunteers in starting and preparing the equipment for use at the service/activity and troubleshoot any problems.

7. The Part Time Audio/Video Technician will also ensure by training, demonstration, or example that the audio and video equipment is properly started, used, and shut down.

8. The Part Time Audio/Visual Technician shall also contact the appropriate vendor to report a need for service or repair of a piece of equipment and prepare a “work around” for that piece of equipment if not available for the next use.

9. To further support the overall function and operation of the church, the Part Time Audio/Video Technician shall perform other audio and/or video duties that may be requested by the Co-Pastors/Heads of Staff.

Qualifications for the position:

1. Individual should have a verifiable background and/or experience working with audio and video equipment, including but not limited to digital mixers, wireless microphones, amplifiers, camera, controllers, laptops, and iPads.

2. Prefer individual with post-secondary training in electronics or audio/video related field.

3. Individual must be flexible to work Sundays and possibly an evening during the week as needed.

4. Individual must have good verbal and written communication skills to give/prepare instructions on how to use equipment.

5. Individual should have prior experience with setting audio levels in various settings to obtain the best results for those in attendance and listening/viewing by online streaming.

6. Individual should have a good personality to work with various volunteers and listen to suggestions from those attending services.

7. Individual should be within a reasonable driving distance of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church to be available on Sunday mornings and/or other evenings during the week to set audio levels during musical rehearsals ort performances.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 per week
