Haven House is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Domestic Violence Advocate to provide coverage of the outreach program and, occasionally, the shelter program by overseeing client activity, providing direct client services, answering the hotline, assisting with donation pick-up/transport, shelter groceries, and other administrative duties.

Essential Requirements
In this role, you will:
- Provide supportive services, such as intakes, individual counseling, crisis intervention, limited case management, advocacy and support to outreach clients, safehouse clients, and hotline callers
- Participate in the on-call rotation
- Oversee client activity to ensure that the outreach and shelter programs run efficiently and effectively
- Provide opportunities for clients to accomplish individualized goals through weekly individual case management appointments with assigned clients
- Provide education and information related to domestic violence topics such as the cycle of violence, power and control, etc. with individuals and groups
- Provide advocacy on behalf of clients by contacting resources as needed and encouraging and teaching clients to advocate for themselves
- Provide up to date information and referrals to clients so they can access appropriate resources
- Network with community agencies and individuals to obtain services and resources for clients
- Encourage clients to use self-determination and allowing them to make their own informed decisions
- Report maintenance, security and other issues to supervisor as soon as possible
- Supervise and train volunteers and/or students as assigned
- Answer outreach office desk phones
- Other duties include but are not limited to: grocery shopping, documenting and organizing donations, cleaning vacant rooms, cleaning the outreach office, donation pick-up/transportation, etc.
Required Qualifications to Be Considered:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a social services field preferred OR 5+ years of relevant experience in social services providing case management/client education and resource referral
- Prior professional experience working with domestic violence survivors
- Experience working with special populations/issues
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive information
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of domestic violence issues and trauma‑informed advocacy
- Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations
- Computer proficiency and accurate documentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, courts, staff, and community partners
- Ability to remain calm and grounded during crisis situations
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Bilingual (Spanish) skills are preferred but not required

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to talk and hear regularly in order to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and hotline callers.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to occasionally reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, or kneel.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35–50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to perform occasional light cleaning tasks as part of maintaining program spaces.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to remain alert to safety and security concerns in both office and shelter environments.
Work Schedule & On‑Call Requirements
- Participation in an overnight, weekend, and holiday on‑call rotation is required.
- On‑call duties may involve periodic calls during the night, which require waking from sleep and may require reporting to work during off‑hours.
- Due to emergency response needs, candidates must reside within 30 minutes of the shelter to ensure timely arrival when called in.
- Must be able to manage frequent interruptions and shift tasks quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be willing to work in both the outreach office and the emergency shelter as needed.
Schedule
- 25 hours per week
- Schedule determined by program needs
- On‑call rotation required

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
