Full job description

The Adult and Community Education program of the S. Charles City School District is seeking a qualified part-time instructor to teach knitting courses. This instructor position requires experience teaching adult learners and is part-time in nature and offered based upon student enrollment. The Adult Education Instructor will work under the general supervision of the Adult and Community Education Program Supervisor.

** New instructors must undergo a background check. All instructors are required to take annual online safety training as contractors with the St. Charles School District.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to…

 Plan, develop and instruct adult education classes within their subject matter expertise.

 Provide learner guidance to students in a classroom environment favorable to lifelong learning and personal growth.

 Establish effective rapport with students, and motivate students to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to ensure that effective learning occurs.

 Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.

 Maintain a secure classroom environment.

 Subject matter being taught.

 Adult teaching and learning principles, curriculum development, training methods and test development, if necessary.

 Classroom management skills

Qualifications…

 Prior advanced knitting and crochet teaching experience

 Proven experience in teaching the adult learner.

 Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
