Full job description
Broomfield FISH (Fellowship in Serving Humanity) is a food and family resource center whose mission is to meet our neighbors’ basic human needs and provide them with the hope and tools to rise out of poverty. FISH is based in Broomfield, CO and provides food, financial assistance, and resource support to low-income residents.
This position is full time and works directly with participants to prevent hunger and homelessness. Advocates work one-on-one with participants to help with food, housing assistance, and other basic needs offered by FISH and our 30+ community partners. This position works closely with the entire Participant Services Team and county-wide providers to help families thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with participants when they come to FISH for food or other basic needs assistance.
- Set meetings to work one-on-one with participants using a strengths-based approach to help them set goals and address self-sufficiency barriers.
- Assist with outreach and follow-up with participants in a timely manner
- Work with a team of volunteers to lead and support participants during our Marketplace shopping hours
- Input information into Salesforce to capture data on individuals and families visiting FISH.
- Conduct financial assistance appointments with participants to help them with emergency rent, utilities, transportation or other needs.
- Refer participants to resources and partner organizations. These include providers who focus on a variety of support services including employment, health care, behavioral health, child care, etc.
- Collaborate with teams at FISH and partner organizations across Broomfield.
- Participate in group supervision and regular case conferencing meetings.
- Participate in on-going training and development per CO FRCA best practices
- As part of the Participant Services Team, work on improvements to service delivery and programs to ensure they are equitable, accessible, and strengths-based.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or other Social Services Field required
- Fluency in Spanish is required
- 2+ years related experience in a human services field, could be internship or college experience
- Sensitivity to the needs of agency participants and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Experience, ability, and willingness to work as a team with diverse staff, volunteers and participants
- Ability to serve families with diverse economic, social, racial and cultural backgrounds
- Demonstrate commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive work and learning culture
- Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Fundamental computer skills with a willingness to learn new programs
- Knowledge and experience with G-Suite and Salesforce a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with individuals who may not share the same value system or behavior norms
Work Environment: Salaried position, generally Monday through Friday during FISH operational hours. Some flexible work hours from evenings and weekends depending on programming.
