Full job description

Position: Pastor of Visitation
Hours: Part-time; 15 – 20 hours per week

Job Summary:
Mentor United Methodist Church is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastor of Visitation to join our ministry team. This individual will be a committed disciple of Jesus Christ, embodying His love and extending pastoral care to our members and friends, with a particular focus on the homebound, those in nursing care facilities, and individuals facing transitional life issues. This role involves collaboration with our pastoral staff and the nurturing of our Caring Servant ministry, empowering laity for effective ministry.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide spiritual and relational care, focusing on visiting the homebound, local nursing home and hospital visitation, and conducting funeral services as requested.

· Equip and empower lay volunteers to become Commissioned Caring Servants, including training and oversight.

· Participate in the preaching rotation as needed and be present on Sunday mornings at least twice per month.

· Attend weekly staff meetings and contribute to a team-based work environment that supports the Church’s mission.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A deep understanding of United Methodist polity.
  • Demonstrated appropriate social skills for interacting with others.
  • Relevant experience in church, hospital, or ministry settings.
  • A commitment to collaborative ministry.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and computer proficiency.
  • A compassionate demeanor, comfortable with praying for and with others, and a background in hospital visitation.
  • Establishes rapport easily and has high emotional intelligence.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree, and ministry training and experience.

· Reliable transportation.

· Consistent availability/work schedule.

· Ability/Desire to preach on occasion
