Job Title: Personal Trainer

Department: Parks and Recreation

Reports to: Fitness Supervisor

Classification: Nonexempt

Summary: Woodmen Hills Metro District is a quasi-municipal corporation and political subdivision of the State of Colorado. Located near Peyton Colorado, in the rapidly growing Falcon region, just east of Colorado Springs. Personal Trainers are dedicated to the safe and effective individual or semi-private fitness instruction for the Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District, Parks and Recreation Department. Trainers will fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. This position will be an active participant in the departments fitness team to accomplish organizational goals.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe environment for personal training by ensuring safety standards required by certification and department standards. This includes cleaning and disinfecting equipment.
  • Execute fitness assessments based on the 5 components of fitness: body composition, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, and muscular strength and flexibility. Applying American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) protocol.
  • Conduct personalized fitness assessments tailored to each client’s physical state and individual goals, using evidence-based methods to guide program design and track progress.
  • Attend and participate in continued education workshops and training sessions. This includes mandatory department meetings.
  • Instructs participants on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
  • Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience.
  • Communicate with supervisor, informing them of participation, equipment needs, and other information needed to maximize services.
  • Communicate availability schedule and any work disruptions to department supervisor in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Check and respond to business related emails.
  • Complete incident and accident reports.
  • Maintain required certification and trainings.
  • Assist the Parks and Recreation Department with other duties as needed.

Certification Requirements:

  • Current personal trainer certification from a nationally recognized organization. Accepted certifications include ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM.
  • Previous paid experience as a personal trainer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • American Red Cross Community 1st Aid/CPR/AED certifications are preferred or must be obtained within 3 months of employment.
  • 2+ years of personal training experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to enforce established policy, procedure, and guidelines.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Compensation

· Full Pay Range, $20.00 - $30.00 (hourly).

· Hiring Range, $20.00 - $24.00 (hourly) based on qualifications and certifications.

· Annual performance-based raises will be issued at the District’s and Department’s discretion.

Additional Information

· This position is classified as non-essential.

· Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

· Primary work locations Recreation Center East and Community Center West.

· Must commit to teach at least 5 one-hour sessions per week.
