Alchemy is powering the future of 340B pharmacy, starting with in-house pharmacies for covered entities. We provide the entire physical, clinical, and digital infrastructure needed to operate and grow best-in-class 340B programs.

Alchemy, in partnership with Florimed, is seeking a dynamic Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC). The PIC will be pivotal in managing local pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering exceptional patient care. This position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for improving patient health outcomes. Additionally, the PIC and pharmacy team will play a crucial part in providing pharmacy services and culturally competent care to a very diverse patient population, including individuals living with HIV, at risk of contracting STD/STIs, the LGBTQ+ community, communities of color, and low socioeconomic status.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee all local operations, including planning and maintaining adequate staffing for day-to-day operations.
  • Fill and dispense prescriptions as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy’s rules and regulations, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy
  • Support insurance benefits investigation for both medical and pharmacy benefits and
  • assess financial assistance options available to minimize patient’s out-of-pocket costs
  • Resolve third-party rejection problems and resubmits rejected claims for payment promptly
  • Reviews key performance indicators and identifies trends and opportunities for improvement, coordinating with Alchemy central operations team
  • Seek professional development opportunities that enhance his/her role in the pharmacy (e.g. pharmacy management, specialty pharmacy, health equity, 340B, HIV, Hepatitis C)
  • Build strong working relationships with the community, stakeholders, and clinic partners to meet all required needs of the clinic as well as the community
  • Provide direct patient care and education, including medication therapy management, counseling, and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with physicians or other medical providers to discuss potential incompatibility issues with patient prescriptions.
  • Consult clinic providers, administrators, and other personnel for the purpose of providing quality patient care and maximize pharmacy performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations about pharmacy practice. Maintain patient confidentiality following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Answer incoming and outbound calls to patients, case managers, providers, insurance companies, etc. Interact courteously with patients and team members to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships.
  • Proactively identify and analyze problems and provide practical solutions to improve pharmacy operations and patient care.
  • Other additional related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors (RPh) or Doctoral (PharmD) degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university.
  • Pharmacist license in good standing in Arizona
  • Experience with pharmacy software (e.g., PioneerRx and/or BestRx).
  • Technical and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Google Workspace, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, managerial, and communication skills.
  • Able to efficiently operate in a fast-paced environment while fostering positive customer relations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and provide culturally sensitive care.

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience full-time retail or clinic pharmacy (PIC experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical/Health Records (EMR/EHR).
  • Has experience providing direct pharmaceutical care, serving as a drug information and patient education resource, and assisting with the monitoring of patients living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), including:
  • Experience providing comprehensive pharmaceutical support to patients living with HIV in a clinical environment and/or in partnership with a 340B covered entity.
  • Currently has or is willing to obtain the HIV Pharmacist™ (AAHIVP) certification by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
  • Has experience providing direct pharmaceutical care, serving as a drug information and patient education resource, and assisting with the monitoring of patients who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, including:
  • Experience providing comprehensive pharmaceutical support to patients identifying as LGBTQ+ in a clinical environment and/or in partnership with a 340B covered entity.
  • Currently has or is willing to acquire foundational knowledge about key concepts and terminologies relevant to the LGBTQ population, including but not limited to pronoun usage, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identities, and intersectionality of multiple identities.
  • Has exposure to the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program
  • Can serve as a primary internal liaison to key stakeholders to help ensure appropriate utilization of the 340B Program and compliance with all program requirements.
  • Providing expertise with the 340B Program to staff and participants regarding ongoing compliance.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
