Job Summary
Our System Designer is a low voltage/ physical security system designer. This role supports the Sales team with presentations, scope review meetings and technical communications with current customers and prospects. This role requires finesse to understand the customer needs while suggesting/designing the best solutions within the customer’s budget needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Collaborate with Access Tech’s sales and project teams to develop comprehensive system design and implementation plans for proposals
- Provide expertise to determine appropriate systems to support customer needs, especially complex projects
- Conduct site surveys to gather information that is valuable to planning the installation process
- Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, schematics and engineering drawings
- Coordinate with install, service and maintenance teams for proper installation of systems
- Assist with programming with Access Tech’s security systems (panels, monitoring, cameras, etc)
- Create professional CAD drawings to assist technicians with installation of Access Tech projects
- Research new product lines and technology to stay educated on industry trends
- Maintain vendor relationships to facilitate technical support for design activities
- Adhere to company policy and best practices to achieve project profitability goals
- Stay abreast of local and federal regulations including NEC and NFPA
- Maintain database of installation diagrams and labor associated with projects
- Develop materials to properly train customers post installation
- Assist with programming security systems including panels, monitors, cameras, etc
- Provide instructional sessions to educate sales teams, technicians and subcontractors
- Oversee subcontractor work as necessary
- Participate in internal post install/energize reviews to identity hurdles and discuss solutions/improvements
Requirements
- Associate degree or higher for low voltage system creation and/or 5 years experience
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Proficient in Visio, Revit/AutoCad
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects in varying phases of completion
- Ability to prioritize workload to ensure time completion of tasks under tight deadlines
- Experience with CRM system to properly document customer communications
- RCDD certification preferred
- State of NM ES03 preferred
- Ability to travel as necessary to customer sites
- Advanced communication and presentation/training skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Favorable results from a background check including Motor Vehicle Record
Working conditions
Office environment with extended periods of computer work, ability to sit or stand. May involve visits to customer sites, subject to temperature changes.
