About the Role:

As a Physical Therapy Assistant at OSS's Burbank location, you will work with patients in an outpatient setting who have a variety of orthopedic/musculoskeletal pathologies. Treat, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, restore and/or improve function, increase strength, home exercise program education, and treat disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury. Excellent communication and motivational skills are needed to help patients overcome their impairments and functional limitations. Direct communication is readily available with the Physical Therapists and Surgeons.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited PTA school
  • Orthopedics outpatient experience is highly desirable
  • New grads welcome

Skills Required:

  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (You have received a booster OR completed your second dose of Pfizer or Moderna within the last 6 months OR completed the first dose of J&J within the last 2 months.)
  • Sound critical reasoning skills
  • Thorough knowledge of physical therapy principles and practices
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as time management skills
  • Working knowledge of computer programs – email, excel, google docs, etc
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment

Reports to:

  • Physical Therapy Supervisor and Vice President of Operations
  • The Therapy Administrator, Board of Directors, and OSS Medical Professionals have indirect oversight as well

Job Duties:

  • Implement Physical Therapy treatment programs based on each patient's particular needs.
  • Assist patients with all phases of physical therapy treatment and techniques to include: exercise instruction, manual therapy techniques, patient education, modalities, activities of daily living
  • Document treatments rendered on billing sheets and in appropriate patient charts.
  • Record patient conditions and responses to treatments in charts after each visit.
  • Prepare patient care/progress notes and other required forms as requested.
  • Consult with referring Physicians regarding patient diagnosis, and communicate changes via progress notes.
  • Operate and apply knowledge of standard physical therapy.
  • Compose discharge notes for patients.
  • Attend continuing educational courses to obtain advanced clinical skills.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Physical Therapy Assistant roles and continuing trends in the industry.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Complete required forms and documentation in accordance with company policy and state/federal regulations
  • Provide clinical support and instruct patients, families, and caregivers

  • Well lit
  • Burbank: Single floor, office is located on the 2nd floor. Elevator and stairs are available
  • Glendale: single story building
  • Moderate noise level including music, voices, printers, and ringing phones
  • Walking surfaces are low nap carpet in exam rooms, and manufactured flooring
  • Driving to scheduled team meetings at OSS locations is required, Glendale or Burbank clinics

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking distances are occasional and no greater than 50 yards, unless walking to or from the parking garage
  • Minimum phone usage; moderate computer usage
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required.
  • Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
