Our practice includes a range of specialties, from Hand Surgeons to Spine Surgeons, Foot & Ankle Surgeons/Podiatrists, Sports Medicine Surgeons, Hip and Knee Replacement Surgeons, and Pain Management Specialists. Position Summary:

As a physical therapy aide working under the close supervision of a physical therapist, you have an important role in preparing patients and treatment areas. Your attention to detail and adherence to specific protocols ensure a smooth and efficient therapy session.

  • All OSS aides who have applied to PT/OT/RN/PA programs have been accepted.
  • Partake in evaluations and assessments

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • BS degree in Exercise Science related field preferred
  • Exercise experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in outpatient setting is highly preferred
  • Seeking individuals pursuing graduate school in healthcare

Skills Required:

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as time management skills
  • Sound critical reasoning skills
  • Knowledge of exercise
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of computer programs.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively

Reports to:

  • Physical Therapy Administrator and Physical Therapist
  • Partners and Medical Professionals have indirect oversight as well

  • Create a Safe and Clean Environment: By meticulously cleaning and organizing your work area and disinfecting equipment after each treatment, you ensure that patients feel comfortable and secure during their therapy sessions. Your attention to detail helps create a space conducive to healing and recovery.
  • Empower Patients through Instruction and Support: As you assist patients in practicing exercises and functional activities, remember that your guidance can motivate them to push through challenges and achieve their goals. Your encouragement and assistance contribute to their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Document Progress and Care: Your diligent record-keeping of treatment provided and equipment used is essential for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records. This information aids physical therapists in evaluating progress, adapting treatment plans, and ensuring the best possible care for each patient.
  • Facilitate Therapeutic Interventions: As you administer therapeutic exercises and modalities, such as heat, ice, light, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation treatments, you contribute to the relief of pain, improvement of mobility, and enhancement of overall well-being. Your skillful application of these interventions can make a significant difference in patients' lives.
  • Provide Safe and Supportive Transportation: When you transport patients to and from treatment areas, whether using wheelchairs or offering standing support, you exemplify compassion and care. Your assistance ensures that patients can access therapy sessions comfortably and safely.
  • Promote Comfort and Hygiene: By changing linens, such as bed sheets and pillowcases, you contribute to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for patients. This attention to detail fosters a sense of well-being and aids in the healing process.
  • Ensure Safety during Therapy: When securing patients into therapy equipment, you play a vital role in maintaining their safety and stability. Your attentiveness allows therapists to focus on delivering treatment, knowing that patients are properly secured and supported.
  • Efficiently Coordinate Appointments: Your organizational skills shine as you schedule patient appointments with physical therapists and coordinate therapists' schedules. By efficiently managing the schedule, you contribute to a smooth and well-coordinated workflow, ensuring that patients receive timely care.
  • Observe and Report Patient Progress: Your keen observations during treatment sessions, compiling data, and evaluating patients' responses and progress are invaluable. Your reports enable physical therapists to make informed decisions and adjustments to treatment plans, facilitating optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate for Comprehensive Care: By conferring with the physical therapy staff and others involved in patient care, you contribute to a comprehensive and holistic approach to treatment. Your insights and input are crucial for planning, modifying, and coordinating care effectively.

Whether it's taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering phone calls, taking messages, or filling out forms, your professionalism and organizational skills keep the administrative aspects of the practice running smoothly.
  • Ensure Equipment and Furniture Integrity: Your dedication to maintaining equipment and furniture in good working condition is commendable. Whether assembling, disassembling, or conducting routine maintenance, your efforts contribute to the safety and effectiveness of therapy sessions.
  • Support Patients with Compassion: When you assist patients in dressing, undressing, or using supportive devices such as braces, splints.

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking distances are occasional and no greater than 50 yards, unless walking to or from the parking garage.
  • Moderate phone usage
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required.
  • Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
