Position: Physician Ambassador

Position Summary:

The Physician Ambassador is responsible for maintaining active status for all providers by successfully completing initial and reappointment credentialing applications as required by Real Radiology and Joint Commission Standards. The Physician Ambassador is the main point of contact (liaison) for the physician for all credentialing, licensing, and privileging matters The Physician Ambassador will report directly to the Physician Services Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions

  • Onboarding new physicians by processing their initial credentialing application ensuring Real Radiology and Joint Commission Standards are met and needed information is obtained.
  • Obtain from the assigned physician, information needed to complete initial credentialing, applications for state licenses, hospital privileges, and provider enrollment.
  • Assist all physicians in obtaining fingerprints as required by each state medical board.
  • Ensure all essential departments are kept up to date during the initial credentialing process
  • Escalate all issues identified during the credentialing process.
  • Monitor assigned physician’s licenses and privileges. Work closely with the licensing and privileging specialists to assure the process is progressing efficiently.
  • Build relationships with assigned physicians to obtain and verify information on a timely basis.
  • Main point of contact (liaison) for assigned physician for all credentialing, licensing, and privileging.
  • Ability to review assigned physicians for areas needing licensed, privileged and gaps.
  • Ability to work on priorities issued from the supervisor, but also recognize priorities and be accountable.
  • Document all Physician Ambassadors actions in the system – provide and maintain accurate information including schedule status in appropriate spreadsheet or database.
  • Assist in the completion of applications as requested to ensure timely submission to licensing and privileging departments for filing. (i.e…answering questions and providing additional information in order for specialists to complete the application.)
  • Work cross-functionally to obtain CME information from physicians and ensure items are completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for Real Radiology reappointment applications for all physicians (every 2 years).
  • Other tasks as assigned by Management

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a Medical Office environment or equivalent including physician credentialing, licensing or privileging experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills – primarily to internal constituents
  • Strong computer skills – ability to work with databases and spreadsheets
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
