CRIMSON Midstream, LLC
Crimson Pipeline, L.P. (CPLP) is a midstream provider specializing in pipeline transportation, storage, processing, and marketing solutions for crude oil throughout southern, central, and northern California.
Job Purpose:
This position is part of anOperations Team in the Ventura, California region that operates pipeline and associated facilities as directed; providing controlled delivery of crude oil in accordance with Company procedures and safety requirements to protect the integrity of the pipeline, the environment, and the public.
Responsibilities include all manner of pipeline field operations including but not limited to locating subsurface utility pipelines, utility marking, right-of-way inspections, gauging tanks, facilities inspections, preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs. Applicable, troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating equipment will be required. This position ensures the integrity and reliability of all maintenance of facilities in compliance with Company policy and procedures and applicable DOT regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monitoring and inspecting all operational equipment within physical area of responsibility.
- Inspection of aboveground storage tanks.
- Review and process DOT and regulatory inspections and reports as required.
- Reads and interprets computer generated 'one-call' notices, maps, and drawings.
- Utility marking and line riding.
- Operates pipeline locators and marks location of pipelines. Works with Company and contract personnel to ensure pipeline is not damaged during construction around pipeline. Oversee construction as required.
- Work with a wide variety of tools and equipment including but not limited to pumps, mixers, hydrometers, centrifuges, temperature and H2S monitors, line locators, fire extinguishers and scrapers as required.
- Compile all reports and notifications as determined by supervisor.
- On call for emergency call out work as required.
- Part of the First Responder Emergency Team.
- Be Crimson’s field representative and act in a professional manner
- Maintain daily logbook
- Gauge tanks and record all information applicable to that ticket in a legible manner
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Associate degree, military experience or a minimum of 3 years of equivalent work experience with strong background and experience with line locating, and related petroleum pipeline equipment.
- Strong knowledge of Pipeline operations, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to speak, read and write English.
- Ability to read and interpret pipeline maps and drawings
- Basic computer skills: Excel, Microsoft Office, Word, etc.
- Must have an outstanding safety record.
- Basic math skills
- Capable of performing duties independently with minimal supervision
- Fit for duty to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs., working, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, and walking in all types of terrain.
- Works outdoors in an open environment with extremes of heat and cold
- Must possess or obtain operator qualifications as deemed by the Operations Supervisor and complete Haz-Mat training, safety programs and meet minimum D.O.T. requirements.
- Able to accommodate travel, overtime, and participate in “on-call” rotation as required.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in good standing to drive company vehicles
- Must be able to work effectively as a team member
- Must be able to successfully pass Drug and Alcohol pre-employment and ongoing random screening.
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Certification:
- Previous Operator Qualification Certification preferred.
Work Experience:
- Strong knowledge of Pipeline operating and regulatory requirements with a minimum of three years related experience.
Competencies:
- Must be able to successfully complete Haz-Mat training, safety awareness training and any other related required training and certifications.
- Must be able to work effectively as a team member.
- Proven HSSE track record.
Other:
- Must be able to successfully pass Drug and Alcohol pre-employment and ongoing screening.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Work Environment
- This position requires an employee to be in an office environment as well as on-site environments, regular exposure to outside elements. Employee must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the location. General office noise may be experienced and louder sounds and vibrations when outside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, speak, and hear. The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required, on occasion, to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to travel by air, bus, or car.
