Full job description

Summary:

To maintain all aspects of the telecommunications fixed asset ledgers and corresponding accounting records including work orders, continuing property records (CPRs), depreciation schedules, and fixed asset cost accounting processes and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for properly opening, monitoring, and closing all fixed asset construction work orders and projects in the Company’s system.
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Company’s fixed asset Continuing Property Records (CPRs) including the proper assignment of Part 32 cost separations account categories.
  • Responsible for posting additions and removals to COCPRs.
  • Responsible for analyzing, auditing, and maintaining COCPR database.
  • Assist Network Engineering with yearly cost separations analysis.
  • Assist Cost Consultants with yearly cost separations analytics and reports.
  • Maintain all required depreciation schedules including summaries detailing applicable depreciation rates, expense amounts by asset category, and required roll-forward schedules.
  • Post asset retirement journal entries including any applicable salvage related entries as required by Part 32 guidelines.
  • Responsible for reconciliation of subsidiary plant records to the appropriate general ledger control accounts.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and summarize all property tax renditions as required by the Company’s external consultants.
  • Compile and prepare reports for the Company’s management team and board of directors as required.
  • Assist in preparation of all budgets and forecasts, including related reports and analysis.
  • Compile and prepare reports and schedules related to internal and external audits as required.
  • Coordinate with external cost separations consultants to ensure all compliance requirements are met and cost recoveries are maximized.
  • Interface with Accountants Financial, Specialists Accounting, Analysts Financial, and outside plant and central office engineers and employees for combined reporting, general ledger maintenance, and CPR record keeping activities.
  • Assist all internal departments by providing sound and accurate financial reports as required.
  • Assist in development of internal financial policies and internal controls.
  • Develop and assist in preparation of all internal cost accounting process flows.
  • Code, analyze, review & process Contractors invoicing according to type of work being done.
  • Maintain Capital Expense tracking while assisting Designers in preparation and submitting budgeted and unbudgeted projects for accurate reporting within work orders.
  • Sound expense control and expense management.

Education/Experience:

  • Accounting Degree preferred.
  • 1-5 years of fixed asset related accounting experience.
  • Ability to prioritize work responsibilities and carry out assignments with independence while appropriately keeping management informed of pertinent issues.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to deal with and solve problems using solid judgment skills.

Technical skills:

  • Strong understanding of GAAP including appropriate guidelines for fixed asset accounting related issues and Part 32 guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of the accounting processes and procedures associated with work orders and the corresponding cost accounting process flows.
  • Strong PC skills with computer-based accounting systems experience. Emphasis on Microsoft Excel skills including the utilization of some features and functions.

Staff performance will be assessed in a written format at the end of the 90-day probation period and annually.
