Full job description
PLANT CARE TECHNICIAN
Luna Botanicals is seeking a self-motivated, plant-loving person to care for indoor and outdoor plants around New Orleans.
This position primarily consists of site visits to maintain client spaces around the New Orleans area. Applicants must have the ability to communicate with clients about proper maintenance plans, as well as be able to identify plants (tropicals, ornamentals, natives) and understand their needs. Applicant must be skilled with indoor and outdoor plant maintenance, including identifying any potential horticultural issues, and have the confidence to take action when necessary. Luna Botanicals is a fast-growing company and are looking for people who are able to adapt to client and companies needs.
Open to both part time and full time.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- The plant care technician is responsible for maintaining stellar landscapes on interior and exterior accounts around the city of New Orleans, on a structured schedule, within a specific timeframe
- Deep understanding and knowledge of plants and their needs
- General knowledge of Luna brand, products and company processes
- Ability to ID and treat any plant-based pests or disease
- Maintain all plants weekly for maintenance accounts
- Watering and fertilizing all plants, as necessary
- Keeping all plants cleaned and trimmed and proactively pruning
- Keeping all plants oriented to proper light; rotating, as needed
- Removing any damaged or unsightly foliage
- Removing debris from planters and maintaining planters in a neat and orderly manner
- Handling all equipment and plants in a manner as not to spread pests and disease
- Make weekly reports with photos for each client
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Making replacements, updates, and revamps on site as needed
- Timely communication to supervisor regarding account problems, complaints, and/or concerns
- Friendly, professional communication with client contact
- Punctual and a good team player
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction, at all times
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to climb and work on ladders, use scissors, drills, pruners, shovels, hoses and other small tools, and be able to apply leaf cleaners and insecticides using hand-held pump sprayers.
- Horticultural and/or plant maintenance experience
- Horticultural education/certification is a plus
- Ability to ID and treat any plant-based pests or disease
- Proper pruning and planting skills
- Knowledge of seasonal garden maintenance routines
- Willingness and ability to learn
- Proactive, hard-working, and punctual
- Strong problem solving and research skills
- Excellent communication skills, verbally and written
- Must be able to dig and lift 50 + lbs with ease
- Valid driver’s license and SS#
- Landscaping and carpentry experience a plus
- Must be energetic, motivated, hardworking, honest, reliable, responsible and love working with plants
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
