Overview
Join our dedicated law enforcement team as a Police Sergeant, where you will lead and inspire officers to uphold safety, enforce laws, and serve our community with integrity and professionalism. This pivotal role combines leadership, strategic oversight, and hands-on policing to ensure a secure environment for all residents and visitors. As a Police Sergeant, you will be at the forefront of maintaining order, managing complex situations, and fostering positive community relations through proactive engagement and decisive action.
Responsibilities
- Meet all police officer requirements
- Responds to calls for assistance, complaints, suspicious activity, domestic disputes, loud and disruptive behavior; completes calls by determining true nature of the situation and taking whatever legal action is warranted
- Issues traffic citations and parking tickets as required; writes accident reports
- Investigates traffic accidents; directs traffic and participates in other emergency operation activities
- Performs investigations of accidents or possible crimes through observation, questioning witnesses, and gathering physical evidence; performs investigative tasks, arrests, and processes criminal suspects; presents testimony in court
- Serves warrants and subpoenas; apprehends and processes criminal suspects and transports to magistrate and/or County detention facilities
- Regulates and directs vehicular traffic at local schools and when traffic signal malfunctions or accidents require
- Operates a two-way radio to receive instructions and information from or to report information to police headquarters; maintains vehicle, weapons, and other equipment in standard working order.
- Advises the public on laws and local ordinances
- Assists with fire and rescue calls as required
- Prepares and submits accurate written reports
Working Conditions
- Individual will be subject to work in all types of weather conditions, heights, different terrains, and work with blood borne pathogens as well as hazardous materials. Working conditions include inside and outside the Police Department, including in private homes, businesses, and public spaces. This position may involve a shift rotation and will include on-call status.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or any other related field and experience in police work. Five years or more experience.

Pay: $51,286.00 - $56,415.00 per year
