Two Postdoctoral Fellow positions are available in the IRIS (Innovation In Interventional Radiology) program at Stanford University.

The first position is focused on novel biomaterials for cell therapies – the person in this position is expected to have a track record in biomaterial use and characterization, ideally with experience in bioscaffold synthesis, nanomaterials and micro platforms technologies. There will also be the possibility for 3D printing applications.

The second position is focused on cellular and molecular biology – the person should have a good track record in cell biology techniques and molecular biology. Animal handling is desirable but not essential. Focus on bioenergetics and immunology science is desirable. Pancreatic/Islet biology is also desirable but not essential.

Candidates should be highly qualified scientists with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Our focused research program uses cutting-edge technologies to investigate organ regeneration in the setting of bowel, pancreatic and lung diseases using mesenchymal stem cells and their exosomes. This position will provide the candidate with an opportunity to lead interdisciplinary research projects within these areas with a strong focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms of tissue regeneration.

The successful applicant must have a PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent with a major in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry or Regenerative Medicine. Experience in any of the following fields is highly desirable: immunology, immune cell sorting and test, stem cell biology, extracellular vesicle biology, molecular biology and molecular imaging. Sterile tissue culture techniques, cell-based imaging and assays (flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, ELISA) are required, with experience in FACS also preferred. He/she should have excellent writing and presentation skills and be able to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and is expected to be organized and highly productive. Successful applicants will have a track record of productive research, presentations, and publication. Grant writing experience is also highly desirable.
