POSITION DESCRIPTION – PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM COORDINATOR (DFW Area)

HIRING IMMEDIATELY!

Are you prepared to play a vital role in healthcare disaster preparedness and response? In this position, you'll lead disaster planning and response across 19 counties in the DFW area.

Your responsibilities will include supporting training sessions, exercises, and committee meetings for hospitals, EMS, public health, and emergency management within the healthcare coalition. You'll also assist in deploying regional partners and assets for both local and statewide disaster response efforts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in drills, training, exercises, and committee meetings.
  • Develop and maintain regional disaster preparedness and response plans.
  • Conduct response support activities during emergency or disaster operations.
  • Represent the agency in local and regional planning meetings related to emergency and disaster preparedness.
  • Perform as on-call duty officer.
  • Perform special duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with courses or experience in logistics operations, emergency management, public administration, healthcare administration, or a related field, preferred.
  • Previous experience in disaster preparedness, healthcare, public health, public administration, or grant administration of at least 1 year is preferred.
  • Previous experience in disaster preparedness planning, training, and exercise development preferred.
  • Have completed ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 classes or be able to complete within 6 months of hire.
  • Must possess a current, valid Texas driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge of

  • HPP contractual requirements.
  • Microsoft applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint
  • NIMS and the Incident Command Structure
  • Principles of hospital emergency management and disaster response.
  • Principles of all-hazards emergency management including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

Ability to

  • Communicate clearly with organizational skills including project management and attention to detail.
  • Converse knowledgeably with physicians, healthcare personnel, C-suite leadership, and government officials.
  • Perform under tight deadlines with respect for formal project planning and management techniques.
  • Design and implement new workflows and procedures across multiple programs.
  • React calmly and promptly during an emergency or disaster situation.
  • Communicate both orally and in writing with state and local officials.
  • Prepare and make public speaking presentations.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple, diverse, and time-sensitive tasks simultaneously with acute attention to detail and minimal supervision.
  • Carry out responsibilities with a high level of professionalism.
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Exercise independent judgment in making day-to-day decisions.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in healthcare preparedness and response.
  • Demonstrate a high level of “customer service” toward internal and external “customers”.
  • Work overtime, overnight, and on weekends during emergencies and disasters.
  • Work under pressure for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and react positively to changing directions and evolution of projects.
  • Presenting and communicating to internal and external groups.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Work with minimal supervision.

Work Schedule

  • Hybrid work
  • This is a full-time opportunity with some overtime, overnight, and on weekend work during emergencies and disasters.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
