Preschool After Care Teacher

The person selected for this position will be responsible for the supervision of children after school instruction. The hours of this position are 2:30-6:00 Monday through Friday.

This position begins in September 2023.

Qualifications:

Before Care and After Care teachers must be at least 18 years of age, exhibit an interest in young children and meet the requirements of the NJ Department of Children and Families 3A:52-4.6. They must have a warm, friendly personality and be able to relate to both children and adults.

General Responsibilities:

• Prepare the room with age appropriate activity centers
• Provide a safe, relaxed setting for children to socialize and play; set up activities, read books, listen to music, play games
• Supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times
• Weather permitting, supervise children on the playground
• Foster each child’s sense of identity, belonging, and citizenship
• Practice professional ethics in regard to students, parents and staff; treat each child with dignity and respect
• Maintain a clean, orderly and visually appealing classroom environment
• Assume an equal share of joint housekeeping responsibilities by the entire staff
• Engage with families at arrival/dismissal; follow authorized release policies
• Handle confidential medical and emergency response information
• Attend monthly after care staff meetings
• Attend and participate in school functions, including Back to School Night
• Arrange substitute coverage when out of school for personal or sick time

Other Requirements:

• Complete 12 staff development hours annually per State licensing regulations
• Obtain certification in CPR, AED, first aid and EpiPen use
• Attend the Abuse Awareness workshop given by the Episcopal Diocese of NJ
• Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the staff manual and the New Jersey Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers
