Position Overview:
Parents Anonymous® has an immediate opening for a full-time Program Coordinator for the Prevention Education Program (PEP) in SPA 3. You will be responsible for the supervision, growth and development of a Community Outreach Advocate, coordinating services, and implementing an Evidence-Based Parents Anonymous® Group with the ultimate goal of preventing youth substance use. You will also be responsible for delivering four (4) required events, establishing a Youth Coalition, as well as providing Evidence-Based Botvin Life Skills training to youth. Significant outreach is required, often on weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the overall operation of PEP program including day-to-day supervision of staff, and monitoring of services, and deliverables.
- Be responsible for engagement of youth and supporting their empowerment journey through the creation and implementation of a Youth Coalition.
- Create and maintain a minimum of 7 parents / caregivers in an Evidence-Based Parents Anonymous® Group for with diverse Parents, Children & Youth.
- Monitor the fulfillment of the scope of work, including accurate documentation of all service activities, preparation and submission of monthly reports, monitor outcome performance and compliance with all requirements in accordance with County, State, Federal, agency, and funder guidelines.
- Provide community-based outreach and engagement, including collaboration with school districts, local schools, and parent associations.
- Provide advocacy and support for parents and youth and must be willing and able to provide presentations when needed, and technical assistance for community partners.
- Assist in providing comprehensive community assessments to youth, parents, and other community members in SPA-1 (Antelope Valley).
- Represent the Agency in the Community by participating in collaborative, interagency coalitions and community organizations to raise awareness and decrease youth access to alcohol and other drugs, including prescription drugs.
- Lead local youth community coalition through engagement, capacity building, empowerment, and organizing events and activities.
- Provide school-based and community-based substance abuse prevention services/activities based on evidence-based curriculum to youth and parents.
- Ensure proper staff orientation, training, documentation, and audit preparedness for scope of work.
- Ensure program revenue and expenses are within the adopted annual budget.
- Attending and supporting all County Department and community services program related external meetings/events.
- Ensure all staff are aware of and comply with company, government and customer regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions and deadlines.
- Participate in training programs and webinars as required.
- Ability to implement evidence-based strategies and prevention concepts to address substance use related community problems and contributing factors.
- Oversee and monitor performance of PEP work plans.
- Create and keep current a S.M.A.R.T. task list and maintain an up-to-date calendar.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience required.
- At least three (3) years of demonstrated previous experience working in the field of prevention.
- Must be able to receive certification as a Certified Prevention Specialist under the Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals.
- Effectively communicate, in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, if needed.
- Strong relationship-building and organizational skills.
- U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident status.
- Valid Class C drivers license. Current auto insurance coverage and good driving record.
- Ability to pass background check and criminal clearance.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $31.25 per hour
