WCA OPPORTUNITY: Prevention Specialist

Job Summary

Job Type: Part-time - 24 hours per week; Occasional Evening or Weekend for Events

The WCA is seeking an engaging, compassionate, energetic, detail-oriented, highly organized individual to join our Prevention team to help make our vision "to foster a community where individuals thrive in safe, healthy relationships" a reality by engaging and educating youth in our community to shift attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to prevent violence.

Will schedule and deliver educational presentations to schools and youth-serving organizations, facilitate small groups, develop strategies to increase the efficacy of prevention programming, and support the WCA's youth engagement efforts. Assist with creation of an engaging curriculum to help youth learn about healthy relationships. Advancing prevention efforts by finding new partners, creating new relationships, actively seeking out opportunities and groups working toward similar goals.

A successful candidate will possess:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with teens, youth, and young adults is preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter with a collaborative attitude and must be able to work independently or as a team member.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Personable and able to develop a positive rapport with individuals while maintaining a strong sense of professionalism.
  • Confident to speak in public to both small and large size groups in a variety of settings.
  • Relationship building skills: Experience in building relationships with diverse individuals and community organizations within a community in addressing effective primary prevention strategies on gender violence.
  • Good computer skills and ability to work with different computer applications including Google Suite.
  • Possess good understanding of the impact of domestic and sexual violence. Ability to handle stressful situations, and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • May need to work at different WCA or community locations. If driving on behalf of the WCA must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and proof of liability coverage to meet the requirements of the State of Idaho.
