JOB SUMMARY:
The Product Engineer is responsible for becoming an abrasive product expert to allow them to provide a high level us support to customers, prospects, and Darmann’s outside sales team. The Product Engineer is a valued part of the customer service team and will be responsible for salesforce support of house accounts, producing engineering drawings for new parts, and processing orders and quotations to support the department’s needs.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain a solid working knowledge of all company products
- Develop an understanding of superfinishing and grinding principles and applications.
- Provide technical product support for customers and outside-sales personnel.
- Gather and analyze all pertinent data required for new application development.
- Work closely with production department to ensure manufacturing feasibility of new product designs.
- Produce CAD drawings for abrasive tools.
- Produce product quotations and proposals.
- Enter new product orders and monitor on-time delivery with the production department.
- Interact regularly with overseas divisions on technical and service related issues.
- Interact regularly with outside vendors that supply ancillary products for resale.
- Provide direct inside and outside (visiting) sales support for select customers assigned by Sales & Customer Service Management.
- Work on administrative and marketing projects as assigned by Sales & Customer Service Management.
- Travel for the first year is likely to be limited, approximately 10% but there is a development track to become a Sales/Applications Engineer with up to 50% travel.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Experience selling or using grinding or superfinishing tools
- Self-disciplined, self-motivated, can take initiative.
- Dynamic/Flexible - able to keep pace with a rapidly growing small company.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Desire to learn and grow with the company.
- Working knowledge of engineering drawings and tolerances.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- This is an onsite position in Clinton, MA
- Overnight travel approximately 10%
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent
- Strong computer skills (CAD, Windows, MS Office).
- Ability to speak Spanish, French, or Chinese is a plus (though not required).
