ORGANIZATION
Willow House is a nonprofit, social service organization whose sole mission is to support children, families, schools, and communities who are coping with grief and the death of a loved one. Founded in 1998, Willow House is the only independent organization in the state of Illinois solely dedicated to supporting this population. We are recognized as a leader in the field of children’s grief locally and nationally. Our mission is based on the proposition that no child or family should ever grieve alone. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Willow House services are provided at no cost to families.
SUMMARY
The Program Clinician reports to the Program Director. The Program Clinician supports and collaborates with Program Director & Clinical School and Community Program Coordinator with primary focus on Clinical Program services and activities; performing both clinical and some related administrative functions. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
The Willow House Program Clinician position requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work (LCSW or LSW with 2 year+ experience). Experience with grieving children, teens and families is required. Ability to assess and clinically intervene for clients’ high-risk clinical needs is necessary. Experience working in a team setting, working with volunteers, mentoring and training development and facilitation are necessary. Other essential skills include: organizational skills, public speaking and presentation skills, communication, writing and computer skills. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Intake & Assessment Procedures
Working with Program Director to facilitate intakes and assessments of families into Willow House programs; including clinical assessments that may include but are not limited to:
- Assessing needs for additional or alternative services and making appropriate referrals
- Securing parental agreement for contact with existing clinicians seeing children & teens to confirm appropriateness and fit for Willow House groups and other activities with current treatment
- Identifying needs for pre-group assessment meetings with children
- Acting as an advocate for families with children and teens with their school or other agencies
Monthly Support Groups
Act as Clinical Site Coordinator for two sites to be determined by Program Director. This role includes lead-facilitating two groups.
- Pre-group planning for Volunteer distribution among breakout groups
- Leading and participating in pre and post group facilitator meetings at groups
- Facilitating post-group follow-up calls with families and/or facilitators as needed at site(s)
- Ongoing communication, debriefing opportunities and engagement of Volunteers assigned to their group site
With Program Director consultation and oversight, work with and supervise Interns to coordinate all group planning activities
- Developing meaningful activities related to Willow House goals for service and any current holidays or relevant issues
- Write up group directives inviting Interns to do so after appropriate amount of training and discussion
- Supervise Interns in gathering of related group activity supplies with assistance from Program Administrator
Inquiries, Consultation and Referrals
With Program Director oversight, working with other Program Staff, supervise and participate in facilitating procedures regarding inquiry calls.
- Answering main Willow House phone line to take inquiries
- Provides clinical consultation
- Assess needs and makes appropriate referrals
- Assists program staff with more urgent calls for service, including but not limited to
- urgent intervention calls and requests
- clinical consultation (typically from school clinicians)
- other information calls
Supervising Interns
- Providing weekly and as needed supervision to 1-3 graduate social worker student interns during their agreed upon internship timeframe with Willow House
- Collaborating with Program Director as needed to complete needed paperwork and evaluations related to internship agreements
- Assist with the onboarding and training of Interns
Program Special Events
In collaboration with Program Staff, develop plans for annual program events, including
- Annual Holiday Remembrance Gathering
- Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event
- Donna Panfil Grief Retreat
- Volunteer Training
- Assistance with recruitment and interviewing of potential Volunteers
Attend and support fundraising and awareness events, including
- Annual Chicago Wolves Event
- Walk to Remember & 5K Run
- Spring Gala Event
School & Outreach Program
- Under the direction of the Program Director, collaborates and works with Clinical School and Community Program Coordinator to assist with services as needed
- Outreach with community providers and potential partners
Administrative Responsibilities
- Works with Program Director in oversight & development of volunteer program opportunities
- Assists with development of program policy
- Clinically evaluating programs
- Through reading, research and training, remains current on related bereavement issues, sharing these as appropriate with staff and volunteers
- Other tasks that may be assigned by the Program Director
- Maintaining licensure and continuing credits
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $51,000.00 per year
