Job Summary:
MFEE is seeking a Program Coordinator for Navegadores Escolares, which provides direct support to families of Spanish-speaking students in Montclair Public Schools. The Program Coordinator is the primary point of contact for families served by the program. The Program Coordinator provides individualized support as well as collaborates on workshops, trainings, and resources. In this role, the Program Coordinator will work shoulder-to-shoulder with families, school staff, community partners, and volunteers.
This position is ideal for someone who has strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and who thrives in a position with multiple responsibilities. Applicants should be excited to work in a collaborative, agile, and hyper-local organization that engages with a broad range of partners. MFEE encourages applicants who want to apply their program management and interpersonal skills in a non-profit setting, regardless of prior experience.

Primary responsibilities:
- Be the first point of contact for families that reach out for information about the program and support. Assess the families’ needs, support school registration, provide referrals to community resources, and onboard them into the program.
- Respond to requests for individualized support (examples: providing transportation to appointments, participating in meetings with school staff, helping to apply for public assistance programs).
- Conduct outreach to families to share critical information and opportunities. Provide individualized support to families, such as helping families complete online registration forms.
- Design and facilitate workshops for familias.
- Collaborate with other MFEE staff, volunteers, schools, families, and community partners to identify systemic issues and develop solutions.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the program, including:
- Maintain program data and participant records and forms.
- Develop and execute project plans.
- Triage and prioritize issues and tasks as they arise.
Requirements:
- Native or bilingual Spanish verbal proficiency and working written proficiency
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within collaborative team environment
- Educational requirements: This position is suitable to a range of educational backgrounds. We invite applicants with college or graduate degrees, as well as applicants who do not have post-secondary degrees but do have applicable experience and skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software/technology
Preferred but not required:
- Understanding of the institutional and systemic challenges facing non-English speaking students and their families and/or immigrant communities
- Connection to the Montclair community
- Experience with community-based programming, educational advocacy, or other direct work with families
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
