Project SCOUT

Program Coordinator

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Project SCOUT Program Coordinators work independently under the general supervision of the Seniors Council Project SCOUT Program Director. The Program Coordinator helps recruit, screen, train, and place Project SCOUT volunteers at work sites in the assigned work area. The Program Coordinator schedules client appointments for CalFresh enrollment and tax assistance, and works closely with program volunteers to facilitate program operations and events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Communicate with the Program Director and other Project staff and volunteers as necessary to effectively accomplish the duties of the job and reach the goals of the program.
  • Participate as an effective team member, exemplifies skills and competencies necessary to continually build and maintain a team spirit and perform the duties of the position in this spirit with co-workers and stakeholders.
  • Help coordinate content development, management, design, and distribution of communication efforts, including social media, video, and photographs.
  • Complete IRS training and certification at the advanced level.
  • Monitor completion of all necessary Program forms and documents in collaboration with other Program staff.
  • Serve as liaison between the Program and staff of Volunteer work sites.
  • Assist in the organization and trainings of the volunteers in tax law at the basic and advanced levels of certification, as well as software and volunteer responsibilities.
  • Solve problems at individual volunteer work sites in cooperation with site staff and visits volunteer work sites as necessary to assess effectiveness of Project SCOUT services.
  • Provide Spanish language interpretation for the program as needed.
  • Identify potential new tax preparation and CalFresh assistance sites for placement of Project SCOUT volunteers.
  • Answer phone calls from the public and schedule appointments with volunteers.
  • Attend monthly staff meeting.
  • Participate with other Seniors Council Project SCOUT staff in organizing Volunteer Appreciation and other special events.
  • Prepares various reports related to program operations.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic and culturally groups and from different backgrounds and lifestyles, demonstrates a knowledge of and sensitivity to their needs.
  • Develop and maintains effective working relationships with other agency staff members, and with representatives of funding sources, government and community organizations, and others in regular contact with the agency. Treats co-workers and supervisors with respect and courtesy.
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s license and up to date automobile insurance to provide transportation to volunteers as needed.
  • Adhere to all relevant State and Federal confidentiality policies.
  • Assist in grant writing and fundraising activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:

· of human services, with a focus on services to older adults and/or individuals with disabilities;

· of various older adult and disabilities service delivery models;

· of non-profit and/or government procedures and reporting requirements;

· of spreadsheet and data processing computer applications;

· of basic digital communication and messaging applications for program promotion.

Skill:

· in working cooperatively with managers and administrators of other agencies and organizations;

· in reading, interpreting, and effectively communicating regulations, policies, and program guidance;

· in the recruitment and retention of volunteers;

· in maintaining records and preparing and producing a variety of reports;

· in effectively utilizing stand-alone and networked computers and data management systems;

· in providing effective community outreach and in both community and professional-level staff information, education, and training;

· in working cooperatively with others.

Training and Experience:

· Three years increasingly responsible experience in a professional setting and working with managers and administrators of other agencies and organizations, ,

· A.A., B.A., or equivalent practical experience in the human services field, ,

· A combination of educational and professional experience equivalent to the above two criteria.

Other Requirements:

· Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License and be insurable.

· Experience with and knowledge of computer use and office and data management software, including Microsoft Office and Google Docs.

Preferences:

· Bilingual English-Spanish.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

· Starting Salary Range: $21.50- $23.70 per hour, depending on experience. (Additional $1.00 per hour for bi-lingual staff)

· Full-time; 30-35 hours per week. Permanent position - subject to continued funding.

All staff are required to be fully vaccinated; clients are encouraged to wear a mask for in-person meetings; curbside drop-off of materials is encouraged, etc.
