Safe-Hub is a globally award-winning social enterprise with over a decade of experience in the humanitarian sector, specialising in infrastructure, youth development and sport for development. We have offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg (South Africa), Berlin (Germany), and Philadelphia (USA).

As a sustainable and scalable model for community development, Safe-Hub has established six Safe-Hubs across South Africa, Germany, and the U.S since 2010. The organizational infrastructure to prepare for international scaling has been developed over the course of a decade, with site governance, employee training and pipelines, curriculum and program design, and more to support the campaign.

Safe-Hub has established its first North American Safe-Hub at the Lighthouse Fields in Kensington, Philadelphia, PA. Beginning in August 2020, the US team activated Safe-Hub’s EduSoccer curriculum, reaching over 200 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in North Philadelphia. Through its local partnerships, community engagement processes, and high-quality program implementation, Safe-Hub is helping to revitalize the Lighthouse Fields as Philadelphia's first Safe-Hub, bringing together the diverse community of Kensington through sport, play, and community resource access.


The Program Director will be a key and influential voice in translating the Safe-Hub’s successful program track record from South Africa to the United States. The Program Director will be a coach, educator, mentor, and passionate community development advocate and activist. They will be the frontlines representative of Safe-Hub and its mission to the community and our beneficiaries.

The Program Director will be responsible for overall management, delivery and monitoring, evaluation and learning of the EduSoccer, PlayMaker, and Collective Impact program activities across all program stages. They will be the face and main point of contact for all beneficiaries, including participants, families, community partners, and community members at large. Additionally, they will be responsible for managing all program equipment and recruiting, inducting, training, and managing program support staff.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Translating Safe-Hub's sport-based youth development (EduSoccer), young adult career readiness (PlayMaker), and community resource (Collective Impact) programs into the local context and in line with annual objectives.
  • Identifying, developing, and facilitating EduSoccer related training for coaches/PlayMakers in weekly sessions.
  • Developing annual program proposals and setting targets in line with the overall program strategy.
  • Managing delivery and administration of weekly EduSoccer, PlayMaker, and Collective Impact program activities.
  • Proposing revised program strategies and contributing new program ideas at learning point throughout the year.
  • Initiating and delivering program pilots as per agreement with the Executive Director.
  • Managing the implementation of selected program output and outcome evaluation activities.
  • Managing community and beneficiary relationships to ensure high satisfaction rate and trust with all operating stakeholders.



  • A Bachelor’s degree (minimum) or Master's degree (preferred) in community development, education, non-profit management or other related field.
  • Relevant professional qualification in youth coaching, product/ program development, and/or project management (preferred).

Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years management experience, preferably in the Philadelphia area.
  • Experience and or exposure in the following fields, soccer/sport, education, after-school programs, community development, early childhood development, youth development.
  • Multi-stakeholder/ partnership management experience.
  • Managing teams/ individuals in a professional environment experience.
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is an advantage.
  • Experience developing and implementing outcomes measurement systems with youth.
  • Strong ability to deliver practical activities and documentation.
  • Proven facilitation skills (in-person and digital).
  • Understanding inclusive learning and development processes.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Working or professional language proficiency in Spanish (preferred).
