The Construction Project Estimator develops precise cost estimates for construction projects, collaborating with the Project Development team and Director of Pre-Construction to ensure competitive budgets. This role involves analyzing project requirements, forecasting costs, and supporting project execution from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Preparation: Create detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work; perform digital takeoffs and quantify resources.
  • Collaboration: Work with the Director of Pre-Construction, design professionals, and vendors to develop accurate project budgets and obtain competitive quotes.
  • Project Analysis: Analyze project plans to identify challenges and cost-saving opportunities; assess construction methods and materials.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update a construction cost database; use historical data to refine estimates.
  • Documentation: Keep detailed records of estimates and pricing; prepare cost reports and support budget reconciliation.
  • Client Engagement: Communicate estimates and updates to clients and stakeholders; resolve budget concerns professionally.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices; seek process improvements and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s degree in a construction-related field required; Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Construction Project Estimator, preferably in multi-family or commercial projects.
  • Skills: Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend), Autocad; strong understanding of construction processes and cost accounting.
  • Communication: Excellent skills in articulating estimates and project status.
