The Electrical Commercial Project Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle management of electrical construction projects from pre-construction through close-out. This role owns electrical scope, labor performance, material procurement, cost control, scheduling, and client coordination. You will work directly with foremen, superintendents, general contractors, and internal support teams to safely deliver projects on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role is field-driven and production-focused. You will regularly be on active jobsites, in jobsite trailers, and in direct coordination with field leadership.

What You’ll Do

Electrical Project & Production Management

  • Manage all electrical scope including power distribution, lighting systems, branch circuitry, fire alarm, and low-voltage integration.
  • Forecast electrical labor, track production against budgeted hours, and manage cost codes to prevent margin erosion.
  • Partner closely with foremen and general foremen to plan manpower, sequencing, and installation strategies.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, risers, and panel schedules for constructability and execution planning.
  • Oversee procurement of electrical material including switchgear, transformers, lighting packages, devices, wire, conduit, and specialty systems.
  • Actively manage long-lead equipment and coordinate delivery sequencing to support field installation.
  • Support prefabrication strategies, layout planning, and efficiency improvements.

Project Controls & Client Management

  • Serve as the primary electrical point of contact with the general contractor, owner, inspectors, and vendors.
  • Lead electrical project meetings internally and with clients to drive schedule and resolve issues.
  • Prepare, process, and track electrical RFIs, submittals, and change orders with proper technical and financial documentation.
  • Monitor electrical testing, inspections, commissioning, and close-out requirements.
  • Maintain all project documentation using designated project management software.

Financial & Risk Management

  • Accurately forecast project costs, labor burn, and resource utilization.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors tied to the electrical scope.
  • Implement lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across projects.
  • Perform electrical project close-out, cost reconciliation, and final documentation.

What You’ll NeedRequired

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing electrical construction projects for a commercial electrical contractor.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, branch wiring, conduit installation methods, lighting systems, and electrical code requirements.
  • Proven experience processing electrical RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
  • Experience managing electrical labor, material procurement, and production schedules.
  • High level of integrity with strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Experience with prefabrication, BIM coordination, or advanced layout processes.
  • Experience managing multiple electrical projects simultaneously.

Work Environment

You will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and electrical hazards. Office work is also required using standard office equipment including computers, phones, printers, and filing systems. Noise levels range from moderate to loud.

  • Navigate active construction sites including climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform site walks.
