Full job description

Project Manager – Utility & Industrial Electrical Construction
McPhee Electric Ltd., a Phalcon Company

McPhee Electric is a leader in utility and industrial electrical construction, delivering mission-critical infrastructure including substations, transmission, and high-voltage power systems across the Northeast.

We are seeking a Project Manager with direct electrical contractor experience to lead complex projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is built for a hands-on operator who understands how work is installed in the field, owns project financial performance, and partners closely with field leadership to deliver safely, efficiently, and at a high level of quality.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead utility and industrial electrical construction projects (substations, transmission, industrial power) from award through closeout
  • Own project scope, schedule, budget, and forecasting, ensuring strong financial performance
  • Partner closely with Superintendents and Foremen to drive field execution and productivity
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and documentation with a focus on accuracy and speed
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, maintaining alignment with Quality, Safety, and Productivity (QSP) standards
  • Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams through consistent communication and accountability
  • Support and develop Assistant Project Managers and emerging talent.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience with an electrical contractor or subcontractor managing utility or industrial electrical construction projects
  • Proven experience leading projects end-to-end (preconstruction through closeout), not just supporting
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation, construction sequencing, and field operations
  • Experience managing project financials, including budgets, forecasting, and change orders
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, field-driven environment with high accountability
  • Clear, direct communicator who can work effectively with both field teams and clients

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience with substations, transmission, or high-voltage systems
  • Background working with self-perform electrical contractors
  • Experience managing multimillion-dollar electrical scopes ($5M+)

Why McPhee

At McPhee, Safety is non-negotiable, Quality is expected, and Productivity is achieved through strong execution, not shortcuts. You’ll work on meaningful infrastructure projects alongside teams that take pride in their work and operate with a field-first mindset.

This role offers the opportunity to grow into senior leadership while owning complex, technically challenging work.

Compensation is based on experience and performance and includes a comprehensive benefits package that rewards results and long-term growth. Performance-based bonus tied to project outcomes and profitability
