Role Overview

Job Title: Project Manager/Estimator – Concrete Division

Department: Concrete

Reports To: Vice President of Concrete Division

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Description:

The Project Manager/Estimator in the Concrete Division is responsible for leading and managing commercial and industrial concrete construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role requires expertise in estimating concrete work, developing project plans, managing crews, and ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of concrete methods and materials, and the ability to coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Essential Job Functions may include the following or other duties as assigned:

Project Management

· Lead planning and execution of concrete construction projects, including site work, foundations, slabs, tilt-up, and structural components.

· Coordinate field operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.

· Maintain project schedules and adjust resources as needed to stay on track.

· Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality compliance.

Estimating

· Prepare accurate and competitive bids for concrete work, including quantity takeoffs, labor and material pricing, and equipment needs.

· Analyze bid documents, drawings, and specifications to assess project scope and constructability.

· Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.

· Prepare and present estimates to management with clear cost breakdowns and risk assessments.

Budget & Cost Management

  • Develop and track budgets, identifying and addressing variances proactively.
  • Review job cost reports and project financials to ensure profitability.
  • Negotiate and process change orders with clients and subcontractors.

Documentation and Reporting:

· Maintain complete project records including submittals, RFIs, schedules, and change logs.

· Generate regular reports on project status, budget updates, and risks for senior leadership.

· Ensure closeout documentation is completed promptly and accurately.

Safety and Compliance:

· Ensure compliance with company safety programs and OSHA standards.

· Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analysis, and site inspections.

· Promote a culture of safety among field crews and partners.

Requirements/Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).

· 5+ years of experience in commercial or industrial concrete construction.

· Proven success managing concrete projects from bid to closeout.

· Strong estimating skills with proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, HCSS).

· Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This position will split time between fieldwork at active construction sites and office-based estimating and project coordination. Occasional travel may be required.
