JE Richards, Inc., located in Lanham, Maryland is looking for an Electrical Construction Project Scheduler with at least 5 years of experience related to project controls (cost & schedule) & reporting activities supporting construction projects. The ideal candidate will have specific experience supporting all types of construction projects in all aspects of project controls and reporting, including, project change management, cost control, progress measurement, schedule development and schedule control. We are looking for local candidates only. There is some flexibility in location, offices in Sterling Virginia, Columbia, Maryland and Lanham, Maryland.
Construction Project Scheduler – Commercial Electrical
Position Summary:
The Electrical Scheduler plays a critical role in the planning, development, and management of construction schedules for large-scale hyperscale data center projects. This role ensures accurate and realistic project timelines are developed, monitored, and adjusted throughout the lifecycle of the project to support field operations, coordination with other trades, and overall project success. The Scheduler works closely with project management, field teams, engineering, and the general contractor to proactively identify and resolve scheduling conflicts and risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed electrical construction schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. Tools like Power BI are highly desired.
- Work with project teams to gather input on durations, sequencing, procurement lead times, and manpower requirements.
- Support project start-up by creating baseline schedules aligned with contract milestones.
- Integrate electrical schedules with general contractor master schedules and update them as required.
- Track schedule performance and issue regular look-ahead schedules (1-week, 2-week, 4-week, etc.) for field execution.
- Monitor progress and update schedules with actuals, progress percentages, and changes.
- Collaborate and communicate with field supervisors to verify percent complete, identify delays, and develop recovery plans.
- Coordinate with procurement, prefabrication, and BIM teams to ensure alignment with schedule milestones.
- Identify critical path activities and potential delays and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
- Assist with time impact analysis and documentation of delays or changes that may impact the schedule.
- Participate in internal and external progress meetings to provide updates and highlight risks.
- Maintain historical scheduling data to support planning for future projects.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in construction scheduling, preferably in commercial electrical or MEP scopes
- Experience on hyperscale data centers, large commercial projects, or mission-critical facilities strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 required
- Strong understanding of electrical construction sequencing, durations, and labor loading
- Familiarity with field operations, prefab workflows, and coordination with other trades desirable
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Electrical Construction Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position; may require on-site presence at active construction sites
- Periodic travel may be required depending on project location
Experience/Education
- Minimum of 3+ years in Primavera P6, construction industry or related experience
- Commercial Electrical background, Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Finance, Business
- Experience as a Project Manager in the electrical contracting is highly desired
- Experience in understanding electrical blueprints, electrical diagrams, specifications, proposals and contractual documentation is highly desirable

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based but will require periodic visits to active construction sites. During site visits, the Scheduler may need to navigate temporary stairs, uneven terrain, or other typical construction conditions.
Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching. The employee may occasionally need to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds, such as project documents or equipment. While the position is primarily office-based, periodic visits to active construction sites are required. During these visits, the employee must be able to navigate temporary stairs, uneven terrain, and outdoor conditions. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots, may be required while on site.
