Our behavioral health program is dedicated to creating systems of psychiatric and behavioral health care the put children and families first. Our team works in collaboration to assure that children and families have access to behavioral health and psychiatric care regardless of their insurance statue or their ability to pay. We recognize that for children to have the best opportunity to grow up happy and healthy we have to address their needs as a part of a system rather than in isolation. This new psychiatrist position works in collaboration with our lead child and adolescent psychiatrist to form the foundation upon which our behavioral health program for parents and caregivers is built.

The ideal candidate will bring both a strong clinical background and knowledge and an innovative leadership style to help grow our program. The candidate should have a keen understanding of the unique and complex needs facing today’s families.

In addition to a competitive salary, no on-call rotation requirement and excellent benefits package, the selected candidate is eligible to receive:

- A sign-on bonus ($10,000)

- Compensated time to complete CEUs as well as an annual allocation to cover the costs of continuing education (5 days/$1,500 annually).

As a psychiatrist at CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health the successful candidate will:

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and assessments including a differential diagnosis and develops and monitors treatment plans.
  • Prescribe psychiatric medications and collaborates with therapists, case management and primary care physicians to facilitate appropriate medication monitoring and adherence.
  • Provide psychiatric consultations and medical supervision.
  • Coordinate services with the client’s primary care physician.
  • Perform psychiatric reviews of charts and treatment plans and approves treatment plans pursuant to Medicaid regulations and department policy and procedures.
  • Participate in planning and administrative decisions affecting program’s treatment approaches, technology, and quality of care.
  • Complete timely and appropriate documentation in the electronic medical records for clients.
  • Maintains compliance with regard to state, federal and CHI guidelines.

Qualifications:

Education (including licenses, certifications):

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school/university plus the successful completion of a residency program.
  • Board certification preferred
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Prescriptive privileges – DEA Controlled Substances

Experience required and preferred:

  • Minimum of 3-years experience preferred.
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Evidence-based best practices, trauma informed therapy and client-centered treatment.

Skill Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Comfort working with computers and tele-psych technology
  • Demonstrate a high comfort working with diverse populations and an understanding of the cultural and social barriers that can exist when accessing health or health-related care.
  • Promote a positive team-based approach to treatment and care.
