Gamma Reality Inc. (GRI) provides real-time, mobile, 3D hazard mapping capabilities deployable in handheld mode, on unmanned robotic platforms (UAV/UGV) and on vehicles, to enable safer, more efficient, and dynamic missions. Job Description:

The ideal candidate will be mission-driven and eager to solve challenging problems in radiation detection, 3D mapping, data fusion, and multi-sensor system development for impactful missions. You will work with a team of domain-experts to realize cutting edge technologies for 3D, real-time mapping and imaging systems. You will have a demonstrated track-record in implementation of modern digital technologies to reach physics limited performance in radiation detectors, coincidence or beam detector systems and/or high speed electronics designs for ADCs, ASICs, FPGAs, and complex PCBs. Your experience is ideally in R&D prototyping, implementation of new concepts & paradigms, solving challenging, parallel problems. You have experience tackling problems without known solutions, applying rigorous techniques & coming up with innovative, quantitative and high performance solutions. This is an opportunity to contribute new ideas & implementations to advanced radiation mapping systems.

GRI is looking for candidates who are proactive, results-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively with team members from different technical backgrounds.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Implement, design & iterate complex multisensor hardware systems with >100Gbps & >16GHz digital and analog bandwidths
  • Create detailed design documentation, collaborate with modern version control, provide design reviews of existing schematics & PCBs
  • Create new algorithms, implementations & systems for complex physical measurements with radiation detectors & particle beams
  • Develop multichannel radiation detector firmware & hardware for cutting edge performance in energy, time & spatial resolution
  • Apply rigorous techniques to plan custom designs, ordering & first-article testing of prototype systems


  • 2+ years of mixed signal experience in complex firmware, PCBs design &/or custom sensor design
  • 2+ years experience in one of at least KiCad/Altium/Mentor and/or ability to read schematics and understand schematic and PCB documentation
  • Experience with embedded C/C++ and/or Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL
  • Experience with Git, Linux and modern hardware design workflow
  • Experience with Xilinx or Intel FPGA design environments
  • B.S., M.S., or PhD in electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, or related field.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Deep understanding of state-management, digital design techniques
  • Clock-domain crossing design experience
  • High performance transactions between PS / PL domains in standardized interfaces
  • Utilization of device primitives to achieve out-of-band performance.
