Candidates must possess a valid Illinois Professional Educator License, a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, a Master's degree in Reading and/or a Reading Specialist or Reading Teacher Certificate (K-8)

Teacher duties and responsibilities include:

The Reading Interventionist will have the responsibility for the literacy performance of K-8 readers in general and for struggling readers in particular (providing instruction and interventions and serving as a resource to teachers).

Data Driven Instruction/Assessments:

  • Aggregate data (NWEA Map, AimsWeb Plus, etc.)
  • Collaborate, communicate, & cooperate with teachers to discuss and report data
  • Be a resource to assist teachers in developing instructional strategies driven by the data
  • Assist teachers in their documentation of tier 1 and tier 2 RTI interventions
  • Use diagnostic tools to determine learning needs of individuals

Research Based Interventions:

  • Attend local and regional reading coach's meetings & or PD
  • Utilize 5 reading components in analyzing and creating individual student interventions for tier 2 RTI students
  • Implement student interventions for identified tier 2/3 students (including WILSON/Fundations)
  • Assist teachers in intervention strategies for tier 1 students

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $47,372.00 per year
