Company background

Nutrition Matters is a small, family-focused organization that creates, publishes and distributes nutrition education materials that positively impact the lives of children and families. Our printed products (books, brochures, and informational sheets) and digital education platform are authored by our team of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists who have experience in maternal, infant and child nutrition. Our materials have been used for over 25 years by families in early learning and community health programs, pediatric clinics and hospitals, and many others. As we grow into new, innovative digital and print education, we are looking to expand our education creation team.

Summary of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Position

Do you enjoy using your writing skills to make a difference in the lives of families? Do you flourish in a collaborative and creative environment? Nutrition Matters is seeking a creative and motivated Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to round out our team. You'll use your background as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to research, develop and write education that inspires healthy eating and lifestyles. You'll use writing skills to share knowledge from respected nutrition and medical experts (MyPlate, USDA FNS, AAP, CDC, AND, WIC) in language that’s easily accessible and engaging. You will work with a team of Graphic Designers to transform the education that you create into a wide range of colorful printed and digital nutrition education materials. You’ll have fun assisting with photography and videography for our digital nutrition education, as well as working on additional projects such as education presentations to other professionals.

The ideal candidate is excited to craft education materials about nutrition, food, recipes, infants, children, breastfeeding and more. • Follow current nutrition and wellness news to seek out interesting topics for education materials.

  • Provide consultation, training and guidance to digital education platform customers as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and present nutrition topics at conferences, both in person and virtual.
  • Prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in the most efficient way.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in maternal and child nutrition, and public health nutrition.
  • Scientific literacy and understanding of best practices in nutrition education.
  • Experience in researching topics and developing educational materials is desirable.
  • Critical thinking and communication skills to draw conclusions from multiple sources and incorporate into education that is relevant to our users.
  • Understanding and experience participating in the digital nutrition and wellness space.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and ability to effectively convey complex nutrition, food and health topics to customers using plain language.
  • Able to be flexible and open-minded to critique and feedback from team members and customers.

  • Time management skills to work independently and with a small team.
  • Executes standards with high quality and attention to detail.
