REGISTERED NURSE (R.N.)
Position Description:
The Registered Nurse (R.N.) works closely with providers and other clinical staff of the LCHD. The R.N. possesses excellent clinical skills and interpersonal skills to benefit the patients of the LCHD.
Essential functions of this position are as follows:
- Assist patients to exam rooms;
- Complete medical history on patients;
- Take vital signs of patients;
- Prepare patients for exam;
- Assist providers with exams and/or procedures as requested by the providers;
- Stock and maintains supplies in exam rooms daily;
- Clean exam rooms between patients;
- Screen patient phone calls;
- Pull and replace files as needed;
- Make patient call backs with provider’s orders;
- Call in refills or new prescriptions;
- Maintain lab area;
- Perform laboratory procedures with provider’s orders;
- Maintain file on pending reports for follow-up;
- Arrange follow-up appointments with specialists as directed by providers;
- Secure in locked cabinet all medications before the end of each day (no pharmaceuticals are to be left out anywhere on the premises at any time);
- Ensure all services & products are rendered, purchased & used in the most cost-effective manner possible; and
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse License;
- Minimum Associates Degree in Nursing or related field;
- Working knowledge of computer programs, such as Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to quickly grasp new ideas and new approaches; and
- Ability to interact with LCHD employees and the public in an efficient, friendly, cooperative, confidential and professional manner and to ensure great customer service is provided to everyone at all times.
Requirements:
- Extended periods of sitting/time spend at office desk
- Occasional periods of standing
- Must be able to communicate with employees, contract personnel and companies, community members;
- Must be able to complete required documentation;
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.;
- Must be able to work in office environment;
- Must be able to maneuver throughout the offices within your assigned department and within health department;
- Must have valid driver’s license;
- Must be able to complete assigned job duties.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
